City of McLeansboro City Council met June 24.

Here is the minutes provided by the council:

Following the Pledge of Allegiance, Mayor Deitz called the special meeting of the McLeansboro City Council to order. Roll call: Jim Mason, Tom Maulding, Dale Biggerstaff, Richard Lasswell, Don Cox—present, Billy Glenn--absent. Attorney David Garavalia was in attendance.

Six members of the public were present. There were no public comments offered.

Six sealed bids for the mowing of certain City Properties were opened, as published, on Friday June 21, 2019. These opened bids were presented to the Council for review. Mr. Maulding made the MOTION TO AWARD THE MOWING OF CERTAIN CITY PROPERTIES TO KYLE POORE IN THE AMOUNT OF SEVEN HUNDRED AND TWENTY DOLLARS ($720.00), AND TO APPOINT DAN MITCHELL, ACTING SUPERVISOR OF THE PARKS AND PLANT DEPARTMENT TO OVERSEE THE MOWING, second Mr. Cox. Roll call: Maulding, Cox, Lasswell, Mason – Aye. Biggerstaff – Abstained. Nay – 0. Motion passed.

Mr. LASSWELL made the MOTION TO TABLE DISCUSSION ON THE BUY-BACK OF THE TOTALED CITY DUMP TRUCK PENDING FURTHER INFORMATION FROM THE CITY ATTORNEY, second Mr. Cox. Roll call: Lasswell, Cox, Mason, Maulding, Biggerstaff. Ayes – 5. Nay – 0. Motion passed.

Mr. Biggerstaff made the MOTION TO AUTHORIZE CONNIE WARNER D/B/A CJ REALTY TO APPRAISE 21 CITY PROPERTIES AT THE TOTAL COST OF FIVE HUNDRED ($500.00) DOLLARS, second Mr. Lasswell. Roll call: Biggerstaff, Lasswell, Mason, Maulding, Cox. Ayes – 5. Nay – 0. Motion passed.

Mr. Lasswell made the MOTION TO ENTER EXECUTIVE SESSION FOR THE PURPOSE OF NEGOTIATING AN INTRGOVERNMENTAL AGREEMENT BETWEEN THE CITY OF MCLEANSBORO AND THE COUNTY OF HAMILTON FOR CENTRAL DISPATCH, AND FOR THE APPOINTMENT AND/OR EMPLOYMENT OF SPECIFIC EMPLOYEES, second Mr. Cox. Roll call: Lasswell, Cox, Mason, Biggerstaff, Maulding. Ayes – 5. Nay – 0. Motion passed.

At 7:10 P.M. visitors were called back to chambers, Mr. Biggerstaff made the MOTION TO RETURN TO OPEN MEETING, second Mr. Mason. Roll call: Biggerstaff, Mason, Cox, Maulding, Lasswell. Ayes – 5. Nay – 0. Motion passed.

Mr. Maudling made the MOTION TO PROCEED WITH NEGOTIATIONS WITH THE HAMILTON COUNTY BOARD FOR CENTRAL DISPATCH, second Mr. Lasswell. Roll call: Maulding, Cox, Mason, Lasswell, Biggerstaff. Ayes – 5. Nay – 0. Motion passed.

Mr. Biggerstaff made the MOTION TO AUTHORIZE THE FIRE AND POLICE COMMITTEE TO SEARCH FOR A CANDIDATE TO FILL A FULLTIME POLICE OFFICER POSITION, second Mr. Cox. Roll call: Biggerstaff, Cox, Maulding, Lasswell, Mason. Ayes – 5. Nay – 0. Motion passed.

Mr. Mason made the MOTION TO ADJOURN, second Mr. Lasswell. A voice vote was taken without dissent.

The meeting adjourned at 7:11 P.M.
