Jasper Community Consolidated School District 17 Board of Education met Sept. 19.

A public hearing of the Jasper Board of Education convened on September 19, 2019 at 6:00 for the review of the fiscal year 2020 budget for the Jasper Community Consolidated School District #17. The following members were present:
Present at the hearing: Derek Demaret, Lachelle Thompson, Lance Hinkle & Andrew Weaver
Absent at the hearing: Rennie Cates, Chris Barbre & Beth Titzer
After no one addressed the Board concerning the budget, a motion was made to adopt the FY 2020 budget which starts July 1, 2019 to June 30, 2020. The votes were as follows:

Lachelle Thompson –yes Andrew Weaver – yes
Rennie Cates –absent Beth Titzer – absent
Chris Barbre – absent
At the conclusion of the hearing and motion the Board proceeded to the regular meeting. All board members present voted “yes.”
A motion was made by Lance Hinkle and seconded by Lachelle Thompson to amend a line item from the August 15, 2019 board meeting to correct a voting error. The amended motion reads as follows: A motion was made by Lance Hinkle and seconded by Rennie Cates to authorize payment to David Mills for unused vacation. The votes were as follows:

The consent agenda, which includes minutes of previous regular board meeting, executive session, bills and payrolls were then approved on a motion by Lance Hinkle and seconded by Lachelle Thompson. The votes were as follows:

A motion was made by Lance Hinkle and seconded by Lachelle Thompson to accept the resignation of Bill Schwarzlose as bus driver. The votes were as follows:

A motion was made by Lachelle Thompson and seconded by Lance Hinkle to increase substitute teacher pay to $80 a day, and game officials pay to $50 a night for Volleyball and $60 for two basketball games.
