Jasper Community Consolidated School District 17 Board met Nov. 26.

Here is the minutes provided by the board:

A special meeting of the Jasper School Board of Education for the purpose of employment of staff to fill FY 2020 vacancies and discuss changes to be made to the handbook was called to order by Vice President Lachelle Thompson with Beth Titzer taking the minutes, on November 26, 2019 at 2:00 p.m. with following board members present:

Board Members Present: Rennie Cates, Lachelle Thompson, Lance Hinkle and Beth Titzer

Board Members Absent: Chris Barbre, Derek Demaret and Andrew Weaver

A motion was made by Lance Hinkle and seconded by Lachelle Thompson to hire Kayla Cessna as school secretary. The votes were as follows:

Derek Demaret – absent, Lance Hinkle – yes

Lachelle Thompson –yes, Andrew Weaver –absent

Rennie Cates –yes, Beth Titzer –yes

A motion was made by Rennie Cates and seconded by Lance Hinkle to make the following amendment to the handbook. To remove paragraph beginning with “Saturday & Sunday practices.last option sought.” Replace with “Sunday practices are NOT ALLOWED. Saturday practices must be approved by the administration. An extenuating circumstance must apply before approval will be given.” The votes were as follows:

Derek Demaret – absent, Lance Hinkle – yes

Lachelle Thompson –yes, Andrew Weaver –absent

Rennie Cates –yes, Beth Titzer –yes

A final motion was made by Rennie Cates and seconded by Lachelle Thompson to adjourn at 2:26 pm. The votes were as follows:

Derek Demaret – absent, Lance Hinkle – yes

Lachelle Thompson –yes, Andrew Weaver –absent

Rennie Cates –yes, Beth Titzer –yes
