Colonial Terrace Funeral Home issued the following announcement on Feb. 19.
Marie K. Miller, 82, resident of Carterville, formally of Eldorado, passed away Tuesday, February 18, 2020 at Memorial Hospital of Carbondale. Marie was born May 29, 1937 in Washington, D.C. to the late John V. and Marie (Fitzgerald) Kelley. On January 3, 1957 she married Roland E. Miller who preceded her in death. Marie was a member of St. Joseph’s Catholic Church in Marion and previously was a long time member of St. Mary’s Catholic Church in Eldorado. She worked for the Eldorado Unit 4 School District as the Junior High School Librarian prior to retirement.
Marie is survived by three children: Anne M. Ryder of Marion, Christopher K. Miller of Marion, Sara E. (Simon “Pete”) Gordon of Marion, a sister: Sharon Kelley of VA, a brother: Jack (Mary Nancy) Kelley of PA, 11 grandchildren: Kameron R. (Stephanie Archer) Ryder of Barcelona, Spain, Katelyn M. Ryder of IN, Molly J. Ryder of Marion, Olivia K. Miller of MO, Elliot J. Miller of MO, Emmett G. Miller of MO, Corey S. Bruce of Marion, Banquo M. Gordon of Marion, Vivienne M. Gordon of Marion, Tiffany Miller of Rockford and Amanda Miller of Rockford. In addition to her parents and husband she was preceded in death by two sons: Robert E. Miller and John R. Miller. A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated at 10:00am Friday, February 21, 2020 at St. Mary’s Catholic Church in Eldorado with Fr. Steven Beatty and Fr. Brian Barker officiating.
Burial will be in St. Mary’s Cemetery in Eldorado. Visitation will be 5-7pm Thursday, February 20, 2020 at Colonial Terrace Funeral Home in Eldorado with a prayer service at 7:00 pm. In addition to masses memorial contributions may be made to St. Jude Children’s Research Hospital and will be accepted at the funeral home.
