Crown Brew Coffee, a new coffee shop in Marion, has yet to open for business, but its owners are already impacting their community.

Joshua Benitone and Jared Gravatt, owners of the new coffee shop, decided to help their community by hosting a four-hour livestream telethon last month.

"In a time where so many are struggling, there is an amazing opportunity for the citizens, churches, businesses, and organizations to unite and help them through this," Benitone told the Harrisburg Register

The telethon, Marion United, featured local artists, entertainers and community figures who all gave encouragement to the community.

"Basically, it's a quick way to get money in the pockets of the mom-and-pop businesses, especially those that have been shut down by the governor's order," Marion Mayor Mike Absher, who pledged city support for the telethon, told the newspaper. "We can rally around these businesses and provide a lifeline."

Benitone said the telethon will be helping the "heart and soul" of the community.

"When we look back on COVID-19, we (Marion) will be remembered for how we came together with a solution to lift up our community during a time of uncertainty," Benitone siad. "We are stronger united than we are isolated on our own."
