Wabash Community Unit School District #348 Board of Education met March 16.

The Board of Education of Wabash Community Unit School District #348 met in Regular Session in the Cafetorium of Mt. Carmel Grade School.
President Schuler called the meeting to order at 7:00 p.m.
Secretary Janice Alka called the roll. In addition to the secretary, those present were Tim Schuler, Neil Earnest, Kyle Peach, Jared Alka, Ryan Peter, and Theresa Hocking.
Also present were Superintendent Dr. Chuck Bleyer, Kevin Madden –WSJD, and District Secretary Kim Zimmer.
Schuler led the pledge to the flag.

Dr. Bleyer noted that the state has assured the districts that they will continue to fund the schools with no stoppages. A motion to approve the consent agenda was made by Hocking and seconded by Janice Alka. A roll call vote was taken. All present voted Aye. Motion Carried.
New Business
2020-2021 School Calendar
A motion to approve the proposed 2020-2021 school calendar was made by Janice Alka and seconded by Earnest. All present voted Aye. Motion Carried.
Resolution for Non-Reemployment of Employee
President Schuler read the resolution aloud concerning the non-reemployment for the 2020- 2021 school year of Jennifer Knight as MCGS 5th Grade Teacher. A motion to approve the resolution was made by Peter and seconded by Earnest. A roll call vote was taken. All present voted Aye. Motion Carried.
Set Administrative Salaries for 2020-2021
President Schuler read the Finance Committee’s recommendation to the Board to approve the Administrative Salary increase of 2.5%. The District Bookkeeper is being assigned additional duties therefore her increase would be 10%. Also a note that the janitorial substitute pay will increase from $68/day to $74/day. A motion to approve the recommendation was made by Janice Alka and seconded by Peach. A roll call vote was taken. All present voted Aye. Motion Carried.
Employment of Personnel
A motion to approve the following employment recommendations was made by Hocking:

Kacey Madison -MCHS Phys. Education Teacher beginning 2020-2021 school year
Chloe Farmer -Part-Time Private School Title 1 Tutor for St. Mary’s School beginning March 17, 2020
EXTRA-CURRICULAR
Kacey Madison -MCHS Head Volleyball Coach starting the 2020-2021 school year
Clint Phillips -MCHS Industrial Tech Department Chair starting the 2020-2021 school year
The motion was seconded by Peach. All present voted Aye. Motion Carried.
Dr. Bleyer gave an update on the E-Learning situation at District #348. He had met with the teachers and they will be rolling out a remote learning opportunity on the district website for all the K-12 students of District #348. More information will follow.

A motion to adjourn was made by Peach and seconded by Jared Alka. All present voted aye. Motion Carried. Meeting adjourned at 7:17 p.m.
