Cost of college went up for all students at Southeastern Illinois College

In-state tuition and fees rose 3.1 percent for 2018-19 at Southeastern Illinois College, according to recent data from the U.S. Department of Education.

Illinois residents paid $5,940 to attend the two-year public institution this year – $180 more than the $5,760 charged for 2017-18.

Non-residents paid 4 percent more than residents this year, or $6,180. Their price tag grew 3 percent from $6,000 in 2017-18.

About 94 percent of the school's undergraduate population are Illinois residents. And about 6 percent are residents of other states.

Data shows 86 percent of full-time undergraduates who started school in 2015-16 received student financial aid in some form. In all, 200 students received grants or scholarships totaling $1.1 million.

Including all undergraduates (1,650), 672 students used grants or scholarships totaling $3.2 million.
