Q1 2020 Recap: Parolees in White County convicted of crimes involving alcohol

There were two offenders convicted of crimes involving alcohol released on parole in White County during the first quarter of 2020, according to Illinois Department of Corrections data obtained by the SE Illinois News.

The data shows that both of the released offenders among the parolees were men. Of the parolees sentenced for crimes involving alcohol, one was a veteran, and the median age was 53. The younger parolee was a 44-year-old man sentenced in 2018, and the oldest was a 61-year-old man sentenced in 2017.

The offender who had been incarcerated the longest was Darren W. McGuire. He was convicted in 2017 when he was 58 years old. He is now 61.

Under state law, paroled offenders are still in legal custody of the IDOC, meaning they can be taken back to a correctional center at any time if the state has probable cause or a warrant.
