Jasper County Community School District #17 Board of Education Met Nov. 19.

The regular meeting of the Jasper School Board of Education was called to order by Board President Derek Demaret and Beth Titzer taking the minutes at 6:00 p.m. with following board members present: 

Present at the hearing: Derek Demaret, Lachelle Thompson, Lance Hinkle, Beth  Titzer, Rennie Cates & Andrew Weaver 

Absent at the hearing: Chris Barbre 

The consent agenda, which includes minutes of previous regular board meeting, executive  session and destruction of closed session minutes were then approved on a motion by Rennie Cates and seconded by Andrew Weaver. The votes were as follows:  

Derek Demaret – yes             Lance Hinkle – yes 

Lachelle Thompson –yes       Andrew Weaver – yes 

Rennie Cates –yes                 Beth Titzer – yes

Chris Barbre – absent 

A motion was made by Lachelle Thompson and seconded by Lance Hinkle to approve the bills and payroll for November 2020 as presented. The votes were as follows: 

Derek Demaret – yes             Lance Hinkle – yes 

Lachelle Thompson –yes       Andrew Weaver – yes 

Rennie Cates –yes                 Beth Titzer – yes

Chris Barbre – absent 

A motion was made by Lachelle Thompson and seconded by Rennie Cates to approve the  abatement of 50% and to levy the amount of 50% for purposes of the 2020 bond levy. The votes were as follows: 

Derek Demaret – yes             Lance Hinkle – yes 

Lachelle Thompson –yes       Andrew Weaver – yes 

Rennie Cates –yes                 Beth Titzer – yes 

Chris Barbre – absent 

A motion was made by Lachelle Thompson and seconded by Lance Hinkle to approve the FY21 levy as presented at less than 5%. The votes were as follows: 

Derek Demaret – yes             Lance Hinkle – yes 

Lachelle Thompson –yes       Andrew Weaver – yes 

Rennie Cates –yes                 Beth Titzer – yes 

Chris Barbre – absent

A motion was made by Lachelle Thompson and seconded by Lance Hinkle to approve a Resolution providing for the issue of $1,198,100 General Obligation Refunding School Bonds, Series 2020, of Community Consolidated School District Number 17, Wayne County, Illinois, for the purpose of refunding certain outstanding bonds of said School District, providing for the levy of a direct annual tax sufficient to pay the principle interest on said bonds, and authorizing  the sale of said bonds to the purchaser thereof. The votes were as follows: 

Derek Demaret – yes             Lance Hinkle – yes 

Lachelle Thompson –yes       Andrew Weaver – yes 

Rennie Cates –yes                 Beth Titzer – yes 

Chris Barbre – absent 

A motion was made by Beth Titzer and seconded by Rennie Cates to approve a remote planning  day on November 30, 2020 and to allow administration to use the remaining 4 remote planning days at their discretion as deemed necessary. The votes were as follows: 

Derek Demaret – yes             Lance Hinkle – yes 

Lachelle Thompson –yes       Andrew Weaver – yes 

Rennie Cates –yes                 Beth Titzer – yes 

Chris Barbre – absent 

A motion was made by Lance Hinkle and seconded by Derek Demaret to approve the annual Administrator and Teacher Salary Compensation as presented. The votes were as follows: 

Derek Demaret – yes             Lance Hinkle – yes 

Lachelle Thompson –yes       Andrew Weaver – yes 

Rennie Cates –yes                 Beth Titzer – yes 

Chris Barbre – absent 

A final motion was made by Rennie Cates and seconded by Andrew Weaver to adjourn at 7:19 p.m. The votes were as follows:
