New Hope Community Consolidated School District #6 Board of Education Met Oct. 20.

Here is the minutes provided by the board:

President Jason Simpson called the meeting to order at 7:01 P.M.

Roll Call: Present: Jason Simpson

Nate Carter

Rhonda Clark made a motion to approve the September 15, 2020 regular meeting minutes with no corrections noted. Second by Derek Smothers.

Voice Vote: Yea: Jason Simpson, Derek Smothers, Nate Carter, Rhonda Clark

Nay: None                  Carried

Superintendent Julie Harrelson presented the Treasurer’s Report and current financial information.  Bank balances as of September 30, 2020.

Fairfield National Bank Checking: $840,429.10

IPTIP: $947.52

Fairfield National Bank Money Market: $625,119.99

Derek Smothers made a motion to accept the treasurer’s report.  Second by Nate Carter.

Nate Carter made a motion to pay the bills with no additions or exclusions noted. Second by Rhonda Clark.

No committee reports given.

Superintendent Report:  Review of quarter 1 expenditure and revenue reports are as expected.  SIJHSAA recently made a change to their by-law allowing children of non-certified staff to participate in extra-curricular activities.  The change passed with a 19-1 vote.  Exemplary designation will stay due to not having assessment testing last school year.  Softball girls recently placed 3rd in State.  Department of Agriculture has extended the waiver allowing free meals to all students through the end of the school year.  Board would like to extend free meals to staff as well.  This year’s holiday dinner will be for staff only.  Board and their spouses will have a separate meal since the Chicago conference was canceled.  Basketball open gyms are starting.  The official start date for basketball is November 16th.  Current mandates only allow a maximum of 50 people in the gym and that everyone wears a mask, including players.

1.  Nate Carter made a motion to adopt press policy update issue 105.  Second by Derek Smothers.

1.  Rhonda Clark made a motion to update Risk Management Plan.  Second by Derek Smothers.

2.  Derek Smothers made a motion to appoint Nate Carter as board delegate for Illinois School Board Association.  Second by Rhonda Clark.

Voice Vote: Yea: Nate Carter, Rhonda Clark, Jason Simpson, Derek Smothers

Nay: None Carried

Rhonda Clark made a motion to adjourn the meeting at 7:34 P.M.  Second by Nate Carter.
