Bethanie Murbarger presented the board with a written concern regarding her son. She reported that her son is having an issue with another student bullying him and he is afraid to come to school. Mrs. Murbarger reported her son’s grades have slipped somewhat, he is having headaches, stomach aches, any reason to not come to school. She says he does not feel safe to come to school. Mrs. Murbarger is looking for a solution. She stated the bullying is happening during recess and does not think the complaint is making it from the recess supervisor to the higher ups. There is no physical harm but verbal abuse is spoken directly to her son from the other student.

Superintendent Report: The decision to go to remote learning is due to the number of staff out and the lack of a substitute bus driver. Sports are still on pause. Coaches would like to have 1 on 1 practice with the coaches with no interplay at the start of the year. Property taxes rates decreasing in Wayne County and White County due to rising EAV. Megan Nichols memorial shelter has started construction on the playground. Christmas program for kindergarten to second grade has been recorded. The band program has been posted virtually. Third through fifth grades will perform a spring program. Statement of Economic Interests are due Monday. This is the last year on the lease for buses. Do we want to go back to the high school or continue providing our own transportation? The board agreed it would depend on if the high school contract is reasonable. Having our own busses has saved the district money but has also caused a lot of headaches. Mrs. Harrelson will contact the high school.
