Sen. Darren Bailey (R-Xenia) traveled to Naperville for a ReOpen Illinois school rally where he took claimed Gov. J.B. Pritzker was out of touch with the people he’s supposed to represent.
“We need a governor who shows up and finds solutions, not excuses,” he later posted to Twitter on March 14. Bailey is a Republican candidate for governor.
Since formally launching his campaign in late February, Bailey has stressed his run is about restoring integrity to state government.
“This is a direct response to all the people that have been reaching out to us for help from all over the state,” he previously told the SE Illinois News. “This is about turning Illinois around and finally getting us back on track.”
Bailey also charged that the governor and what he calls “the political elites” have turned their backs on common voters.
“I can’t look at anything Pritzker’s done since being in office that’s worked well for most people,” he said.
