State Rep. Adam Niemerg (R-Teutopolis) and other Republican lawmakers went on Rep. Brad Halbrook’s (R-Shelbyville) recent live video on Facebook to discuss the latest budget plan from Gov. J.B. Pritzker.

Niemerg criticized Pritzker for claiming his proposed budget is balanced. Niemerg said the budget is anything but balanced.

Niemerg said that Pritzker is just using smoke and mirrors to make Illinoisans believe that they can enjoy tax loopholes with the new budget plan. But according to Niemerg, the budget plan will introduce a tax increase that will hurt business owners and jobs creators the most.

Niemerg said, “He’s looking at raising taxes on business owners and that’s what he’s trying to do here. It seems like these ‘hard decisions’ the governor talked about having to make continually fall on business leaders and business owners — mom and pop retailers.”

Niemerg told Halbrook that it is imperative that Republicans retake the governorship in 2022.
