Village of Smithton Committee as a Whole met Sept. 28.
Here are the minutes provided by the committee:
Mayor Smallwood called the meeting to order at 7:00pm at Village Hall. Trustees Becherer, Rogers, Elbe, Henning, Mourey and Hopkins were in attendance. Engineer Saeger was also present.
MAGUIRE IRON, INC – WATER TOWER PRESENTATION
Darin Clarke a representative from Maguire Iron, Inc addressed the board on his suggestions after performing an inspection on the water tower. A proposal will be submitted for review by Mr. Clarke.
Mayor Smallwood reported that the Christmas Parade has been scheduled for Saturday, December 4, 2021. Smallwood is working with the Smithton Commercial Club on specific details for the event.
Mayor Smallwood reported that Harvey Bunker reached out and reported that prices have currently been increasing. Due to the Village of Smithton locking into an electrical aggregation they will not be affected by the increase.
AMERICAN RESCUE PLAN ACT
Mayor Smallwood reported that we have received our first installment from the American Rescue Plan Act and the next installment will be received in 2024. The installments must be spent by 2026.
TREE TRIMMING REQUEST – 24 CASS ST
Mayor Smallwood reported that a workorder will be created to trim the trees at 24 Cass St along with fixing the tin and trimming trees if needed for the resident located across the street.
CD ROLLOVER
Mayor Smallwood reported that there are two CDs for sewer and water that are coming due on October 13, 2021. Eight CD’s will be coming up in January. Trustee Becherer is currently reaching out for rates.
POLICE DEPARTMENT COMPUTER
Trustee Elbe reported that a new computer needs to be purchased for the Police Department. This will be voted on at the next board meeting.
SAA/PARK BUILDING
Trustee Henning reported that a Park Committee Meeting was held Friday, September 24, 2021, and a tentative date to begin the SAA/Park Building project would be Monday, October 18, 2021. Henning informed the board that meeting minutes have been placed in their mailboxes for review.
Trustee Rogers made a motion which was seconded by Trustee Elbe to adjourn. All were in favor. Motion was granted. Meeting adjourned at 9:04 pm.
