Q2 Recap: 3 parolees from Saline County convicted of drug crimes set for release

There were three offenders convicted of drug crimes living in Saline County released on parole during the second quarter of 2021, according to Illinois Department of Corrections data obtained by the SE Illinois News.

The data shows two men and one woman were among the parolees. The median age of the parolees sentenced for drug crimes was 40. The youngest parolee was a 39-year-old man sentenced in 2018, and the oldest was a 42-year-old man sentenced in 2018.

The offender who had been incarcerated the longest was Michael J. Kvacik. He was convicted in 2018 when he was 38 years old. He is now 42.

Under state law, paroled offenders are still in legal custody of the IDOC, meaning they can be taken back to a correctional center at any time if the state has probable cause or a warrant.

The following table shows how many offenders convicted of drug crimes were paroled during the second quarter of 2021 in each Illinois county.
