The New Hope Board of Education met at 7:00 P.M. in the work room of the school.
President Nate Carter called the meeting to order at 7:01 P.M.

Jason Simpson made a motion to approve the September 21, 2021 regular meeting minutes with no corrections noted. Second by Derek Smothers.

Superintendent Julie Harrelson presented the Treasurer’s Report and current financial information. Bank balances as of September 30, 2021
Fairfield National Bank Checking: $1,132,376.75
IPTIP: $947.74
Fairfield National Bank Money Market: $596,610.12

Mrs. Harrelson presented the Superintendent’s Report; Review of quarter 1 expenditure and revenue reports show expenses on track and revenue down due to property taxes not yet received. In a legal update, the Illinois Appellate Court says cases must name governor, IDPH, and ISBE thus releasing school’s liability on COVID issues. Governor Pritzker is fighting against the Health Care Right of Conscience Act. If he wins, those opposed to the vaccine would not be allowed to use a religious exemption. There is a new group of districts fighting for local control. The cost would be approximately $0.75 per student to join. New Hope’s COVID absences are down. Those on quarantine are through contacts outside of school. Basketball COVID regulations are much better than last season. There is no limit on cheerleaders or spectators, tournaments are allowed, and the game can start with a jump ball again. Schools are strongly encouraged to maintain guidelines of 6 feet social distance and masking. New Hope Lady Panthers Softball placed 4th in State. Chili supper is scheduled for October 29th at 5:00 P.M. with the masquerade starting at 6:00 P.M. This year’s holiday party will include both the staff and board and their families. Tentative date is December 1st at Shreve’s Pumpkin Patch. Board conference meals to be reserved, options include hors d’oeuvres at the House of Blues put on by American Fidelity, meal at the Hancock building, or a theatre show.
