Norris City Omaha Enfield Community Unit School District #3 Board of Education met Aug. 26.

Here are the minutes provided by the board:

A special-called meeting of the Board of Education of the Norris City-Omaha-Enfield Community Unit School District #3 of White, Hamilton and Gallatin Counties, Illinois, was called to order by Joe Lane at 7:30 p.m. in the High School Cafeteria. All members had been previously notified of the meeting and those answering roll call were: Matt McArthy, Lincoln Hobbs, Heath Rush, Mike Hite, Joe Lane, Paul Black, and Frank Graves. Also attending was Matt Vollman, David Reavis, Brad Wehlermann, and Carla Carter. Present were several teachers, parents, and community members. 

The meeting was called to approve an amendment to the 2021-2022 Return To School Plan that was adopted by the Board of Education on July 24, 2021 in order to align the plan with the Governor’s Executive Order 2021-18. 

The visitors introduced themselves during public comment to express their opinions in regard to the masking requirements, and other matters involving the loss of local school board control of policies and procedures. 

Joe Lane made the motion to approve the Resolution for the amendment to the Return To School Plan. Matt McArthy seconded the motion. Roll Call Vote: Joe Lane, Aye; Matt McArthy Aye; Heath Rush, Aye; Lincoln Hobbs, Aye; Mike Hite, Aye; Frank Graves, Aye; Paul Black, Aye. Motion Carried. 

The meeting adjourned at 8:30 p.m. on a motion by Mike Hite and second by Joe Lane. A unanimous vote followed.
