State Sen. Darren Bailey's (R-Xenia) campaign for the governor's office included a recent fundraiser in Swansea.

"Thank you to former State Senator & President Trump’s Ambassador to Kenya, @KyleMcCarterIL for hosting a fundraiser for us last night in Swansea. Cindy and I had a wonderful time meeting with friends and discussing how we fire JB Pritzker and restore Illinois," Bailey wrote in a Dec. 11 Twitter post.

Bailey recently named Stephanie Trussell as his running mate, the Chicago Tribune reported. Trussell is a former Chicago talk-radio host.

Bailey also recently attended the Illinois Farm Bureau meeting meeting in Chicago at the Palmer House, according to Prairie State Wire.

“As a farmer, I’ll always support Illinois agriculture and the thousands of jobs it creates and supports across the state,” Bailey wrote in a Twitter post, according to Prairie State Wire. “It’s time we fix Springfield to get Illinois growing again.”

Last September, Bailey spoke out against the Firearm Owner Identification (FOID) card program, and filed a bill to eliminate the policy, according to South Central Reporter.

"FOID cards may have served a purpose in the days before comprehensive and often instant background checks were possible or feasible, but that’s not the case anymore," Bailey said, according to South Central Reporter. "The state has been unable or unwilling to keep up with FOID card applications, turning the program into a major roadblock for law-abiding gun owners. It’s time to void the FOID and restore people’s God-given constitutional rights."
