Report: Carmi-White County School District spent $9,709 per student in 2019-20

Spending per pupil at Carmi-White County Community Unit School District 5 was up 8 percent from five years ago, according to the SE Illinois News analysis of the latest Illinois schools report card district finances.

The Illinois State Board of Education 2019-20 report card showed the White County school district spent $8,986 per pupil in 2015-16. It spent $9,709 in 2019-20.

The district's enrollment fell from 1,428 to 1,397 students over the same period.

Carmi-White County's spending in 2019-20 was 33 percent lower than the state average of $14,492.
