New Hope Board of Education met Dec. 21.

Here are the minutes provided by the board:

The New Hope Board of Education met at 6:00 P.M. in the work room of the school.

President Nate Carter called the meeting to order at 6:00 P.M.

Roll Call:

Absent: Ryan Duckworth

Also Present: Julie Harrelson, Superintendent

Jason Simpson made a motion to approve the November 16, 2021 regular meeting minutes with no corrections noted. Second by Jeremy Vaughan.

Nay: None         Carried

Visitors Michael Baysinger and Ralph Eide presented the board with an update on the roof project. They also discussed with the board the submitted drawings and plans for the west end canopy.

Superintendent Julie Harrelson presented the Treasurer’s Report and current financial information. Bank balances as of November 30, 2021

Fairfield National Bank Checking:           $1,480,184.25

IPTIP:                                                                $947.74

Fairfield National Bank Money Market:      $596,778.21

Derek Smothers made a motion to accept the treasurer’s report. Second by Jeremy Gray.

Ryan Green made a motion to pay the bills with no additions or exclusions noted. Second by Jeremy Vaughan.

Mrs. Harrelson presented the Superintendent’s Report; ISBE is now saying E-learning days cannot be used in lieu of snow days and must be made up at the end of the year. Therefore, we will be going back to using snow days instead. In a comparison or IAR results between local schools, New Hope has the lowest instructional expenditures and the highest percentage of students who are meeting or exceeding. Superintendent evaluation is due at the January board meeting. A benefit concert held to raise funds for needy families resulted in a $2,750 donation to New Hope School. In reference to the TikTok nationwide threat, we chose not to notify parents to keep from creating hysteria. A police officer was on site until dismissed by the sheriff. Our nurse has received her CLIA waiver which will authorize her to administer test to stay for our students in the event of COVID exposure.

1. Derek Smothers made a motion to adopt board press policy update issue 108. Second by Jason Simpson.

1. Jason Simpson made a motion to approve tax levy. Second by Jeremy Vaughan.

2. Derek Smothers made a motion to table amending transportation contract with FCHS #225. Second by Jason Simpson.

3. Derek Smothers made a motion to approve COVID compensation. Second by Jason Simpson.

4. Jason Simpson made a motion to advertise for boys peewee basketball coach. Second by Ryan Green.

Derek Smothers made a motion to enter executive session at 7:24 P.M. for student discipline, personnel compensation, and hiring. Second by Jason Simpson.

Jason Simpson made a motion to return to open session at 8:15 P.M. Second by Jeremy Vaughan.
