Hardin County Student Joins SIC’s Falcon Archers

31

Bryson Cullum has signed his intent to compete with the Southeastern Illinois College Falcon Archers for the 2022-2023 season.

“I am very excited about furthering my archery career at SIC while pursuing my degree in Chiropractic,” says Cullum.

Bryson is a senior at Hardin County High School. A talented athlete, Cullum has played on the baseball, basketball, archery, and golf teams during his high school years. He is also a member of Hardin County’s Future Farmers of America chapter. When he graduates this spring, he plans to study pre-chiropractic at SIC then transfer to Logan University to finish his chiropractic degree.

“Bryson has proven himself as an archer and I’m pleased to have him shoot at the next level,” says Ricky Sauls, SIC Archery head coach. “His enthusiasm will be contagious and he will keep everyone excited to be a part of the SIC Falcon Archers.”

Cullum’s current and former archery coaches reflect the same sentiment as Coach Sauls. With his dedication, talent, and competitive spirit, school officials say he will prove to be a great asset to Southeastern Illinois College and the Falcon Archers.

“Bryson is a natural athlete. Besides being naturally gifted, he has a strong competitive spirit and loves to test himself against others,” says John Hall, Hardin County High School Archery Coach and FFA advisor. “It has been a privilege to serve as Bryson’s archery coach this last year. He has grown as an archer and shown marked improvement. It has also been a pleasure to be his teacher and FFA advisor for his high school career.”

“It has been a pleasure to watch Bryson progress as an archer on the Hardin County team. His dedication will make him an excellent addition to SIC’s archery team,” says Susan Armstrong, Hardin County High School Dean of Students and former HCHS archery coach.

The SIC Archery Team started with a small group of students as a pilot program in 2011. Since that time, the Falcon Archers have won national awards against Division I universities, added an indoor facility, an indoor team, and host high school tournaments. The team is a member of USA Archery. For more information about SIC’s archery team and facilities, visit www.sic.edu/archery or contact ricky.sauls@sic.edu or 618-252-5400, ext. 2248.
