Jasper Community Consolidated School District #17 Board of Education met April 21.

Here are the minutes provided by the board:

The regular meeting of the Jasper School Board of Education was called to order by Board President Derek Demaret and Jon Lafikes taking the minutes beginning at 6:00 p.m. with following board members present:

Board Members Present: Derek Demaret, Beth Titzer, Lance Hinkle (7:04), Andrew Weaver, Jon Lafikes and Josh Zurliene

Board Members Absent: Jeff Baker

The consent agenda, which includes minutes of previous regular board meeting, executive session and destruction of closed session minutes were then approved on a motion Jon Lafikes and seconded by Beth Titzer. The votes were as follows:

Derek Demaret – yes      Josh Zurliene –yes

Lance Hinkle –yes           Jon Lafikes – yes

Andrew Weaver –yes      Jeff Baker – absent

Beth Titzer – yes

A motion was made by Josh Zurliene and seconded by Lance Hinkle to approve the bills and payroll for April 2022 as presented. The votes were as follows:

Derek Demaret – yes      Josh Zurliene –yes

Lance Hinkle –yes           Jon Lafikes – yes

Andrew Weaver –yes      Jeff Baker – absent

Beth Titzer – yes

No action was taken regarding the HVAC project.

A motion was made by Josh Zurliene and seconded by Lance Hinkle to accept Fuel bids for the FY 23 school year as submitted for diesel fuel, gasoline and propane by Wabash Valley FS at the prices of 3.313, 4.298, 1.945, respectively. The votes were as follows:

Lance Hinkle –yes           Jon Lafikes – yes

Andrew Weaver –yes      Jeff Baker – absent

Beth Titzer – yes

A motion was made by Lance Hinkle and seconded by Jon Lafikes to approve the Cooperative Sports agreement with Geff Grade School for one year at a cost of $4,315.42 payable July 1, 2022. The votes were as follows:

Lance Hinkle –yes           Jon Lafikes – yes

Andrew Weaver –yes      Jeff Baker – absent

Beth Titzer – yes

A motion was made by Jon Lafikes and seconded by Beth Titzer to employ Kendra McDuffee as the Jasper Cheerleading Coach for the 2022-2023 school year. The votes were as follows:

Lance Hinkle –yes           Jon Lafikes – yes

Andrew Weaver –yes      Jeff Baker – absent

Beth Titzer – yes

A motion was made by Lance Hinkle and seconded by Josh Zurliene to employ Chet Snyder as the Jasper-Geff Volleyball Coach for the 2022-2023 school year. The votes were as follows:

Lance Hinkle –yes           Jon Lafikes – yes

Andrew Weaver –yes      Jeff Baker – absent

Beth Titzer – yes

A motion was made by Lance Hinkle and seconded by Jon Lafikes to employ Jeffery Gruner as summer custodian worker for June/July 2022 @ $12/hour. The votes were as follows:

Lance Hinkle –yes           Jon Lafikes – yes

Andrew Weaver –yes      Jeff Baker – absent

Beth Titzer – yes

A motion was made by Jon Lafikes and seconded by Andrew Weaver to accept the dairy bid as submitted by Prairie Farms for FY23 school year. The votes were as follows:

Lance Hinkle –yes           Jon Lafikes – yes

Andrew Weaver –yes      Jeff Baker – absent

Beth Titzer – yes

A motion was made by Beth Titzer and seconded by Josh Zurliene to approve adjourning at 8:20 p.m. The votes were as follows:
