New Hope Community Consolidated School District 6 Board of Education met April 19.

Here are the minutes provided by the board:

The New Hope Board of Education met at 7:00 P.M. in the work room of the school.

President Nate Carter called the meeting to order at 7:04 P.M.

Also Present: Julie Harrelson, Superintendent

Jason Simpson made a motion to approve the March 15, 2022 regular meeting minutes with no corrections noted. Second by Jeremy Gray.

Nay: None         Carried

Superintendent Julie Harrelson presented the Treasurer’s Report and current financial information. Bank balances as of March 31, 2022

Fairfield National Bank Checking: $1,546,519.93

IPTIP: $948.06

Fairfield National Bank Money Market: $597,111.81

Ryan Green made a motion to accept the treasurer’s report. Second by Jeremy Vaughan.

Jason Simpson made a motion to pay the bills with no additions or exclusions noted. Second by Ryan Duckworth.

Policy and personnel committees met on March 31, 2022. Their reports will be discussed in executive session.

Mrs. Harrelson presented the Superintendent’s Report; Governor Pritzker has signed legislation giving COVID days to vaccinated employees. This does not affect New Hope since the board granted use of COVID days in lieu of sick days early in the year. The law also states non-certified staff must be paid when school is out for e-learning days. A review of quarter 3 expenditure and revenue reports show we are on track for the year. Statements of Economic Interests are due May 1st. New playground equipment has arrived and Kerry is in need of a post hole digger and help to install. Graduation is set for May 13th at 6:00 P.M. School speech contest winners are Aiden Dunn, Eden Duckworth, and Jonah DeSanti. Aiden and Eden will advance to the county speech contest.

1. Jeremy Vaughan made a motion to approve consolidated district plan. Second by Ryan Green.

Nay: None         Carried

2. Ryan Green made a motion to accept dairy bid from Prairie Farms. Second by Jeremy Vaughan.

Nay: None         Carried

3. Jason Simpson made a motion to accept propane bid from Wabash Valley Service at a firm price of $1.975. Second by Jeremy Gray.

Nay: None         Carried

4. Jeremy Vaughan made a motion to renew IESA membership. Second by Jason Simpson.

5. Jeremy Vaughan made a motion to accept Alexi Bladel’s resignation as nighttime custodian. Second by Ryan Green.

Nay: None         Carried

Jason Simpson made a motion to enter executive session at 7:27 P.M. for personnel performance, compensation, and hiring, student discipline, and special education issue. Second by Jeremy Vaughan.

Jason Simpson made a motion to return to open session at 8:35 P.M. Second by Ryan Duckworth.

6. Ryan Green made a motion to hire Jeremy Hill as nighttime custodian. Second by Jeremy Vaughan.

Nay: None         Carried

7. Jason Simpson made a motion to hire Mason Hill as nighttime custodian. Second by Ryan Duckworth.

8. Jeremy Vaughan made a motion to hire Cody Attebery as boys basketball coach for 2022-2023 season. Second by Ryan Green.

Nay: None         Carried

9. Jason Simpson made a motion to hire Tylar McKitrick as teacher. Second by Jeremy Gray.

10. Jeremy Vaughan made a motion to approve memorandum of agreement with teachers. Second by Ryan Green.
