City of Carmi City Council met May 3.
Here are the minutes provided by the council:
The Carmi City Council met at 5:30 p.m. in the Council Room of the Municipal Building, 225 East Main Street.
Prior to opening the council meeting, Mayor Pollard asked Alderman Winkleman to give the invocation followed by the Pledge of Allegiance.
Mayor Pollard presided with the following Aldermen in attendance: Steve Winkleman, Tracy Nelson, Mark W. Blake, James Totten, Jeremy Courson, Mike Knight, Sheila Headlee and Doug Hays.
The minutes from the April 19, 2022 council meeting were presented. Motion was made by Alderman Hays and seconded by Alderman Blake to approve the minutes as presented. The motion carried on roll call by each Alderman present answering “yes.”
For council consideration, discussion, and possible approval
Resolution 05.03.2022; A resolution renewing the employee’s safety incentive program for the period of April 1, 2022 to March 31, 2023 was presented. Clerk Attebury said this was the same resolution as in the past years with no increase in incentives. With no further discussion, Alderman Totten made a motion to approve Resolution 05.03.2022; A resolution renewing the employee’s safety incentive program for the period of April 1, 2022 to March 31, 2023. The motion was seconded by Alderman Hays. The motion carried on roll call by each Alderman present answering “yes.”
The IDOT Utility Adjustment Agreement No. UT9-22-001; An agreement between the City of Carmi, City Engineer Jim Brown, and IDOT for replacing water and sewer lines for a culvert that runs under Main Street near First Baptist Church. Mayor Pollard stated the replacement will start this summer and will move both water and sewer lines. With no further discussion, Alderman Headlee made a motion to approve the IDOT Utility Adjustment Agreement No. UT9-22-001. The motion was seconded by Alderman Courson. The motion carried on roll call by each Alderman present answering “yes.”
Reports and/or updates from Mayor Pollard
Mayor Pollard thanked Banterra Bank for the generous donation for the stage at the Carmi Theater Park.
Mayor Pollard also informed the council that at the next meeting, we would be approving the trash contract and seeking bids.

At 5:26 p.m. Alderman Courson made a motion to adjourn. Motion was seconded by Alderman Winkleman. The motion carried on roll call by each Alderman present answering “yes.”
