Village of Smithton Committee as a Whole met April 26.

Here are the minutes provided by the committee:

Mayor Smallwood called the meeting to order at 7:00 pm at Village Hall. Trustees Becherer, Rogers, Elbe, Henning, Mourey, and Hopkins were in attendance. Also in attendance was Mr. JR Koerber.

GROCERY STORE – Construction is moving along. Koerber reported that he already has a lot of his equipment for the grocery store. They are hoping to have the store open by early September.

PROPERTY APPRAISAL – Trustee Rogers has reached out to Andy Stehl with FGM and asked him if he could give us a ballpark figure on what he thinks it might cost us for renovations.

ZONING REQUEST FOR AREA/BULK VARIANCE APPLICATION FORM – More discussion was needed on this. Mayor Smallwood will reach out to Attorney Durso for more clarification as well.

HY-DAC PROPERTY – The Mayor has talked with owner Andy Schilling about the constant complaints from surrounding residents and that the property needs to be cleaned up. Mr. Schilling stated that he will take care of it.

INSURANCE – We are continuing to review.

AMERICAN RESCUE PLAN ACT PROJECT SLECTION – Using these funds for water tower maintenance was discussed.

LIQUOR LICENSES – Various classes of licenses was discussed. The Trustees will put together a list of what they propose.

Mayor Smallwood reported that we received a call from a resident in Ledgestone subdivision regarding drainage between his property and the farm ground owned by Smithton School. A simple regrading of the property is necessary to better the drainage. Mayor Smallwood talked with Mrs. Castelli with the Smithton School and she will be discussing this at the next school board meeting.

Trustee Rogers mentioned trees that need to be removed by the Old Village Hall and a tree by Barker and Smith Street.

Trustee Henning presented sample language for a sign to be placed on the newly constructed building at the Park.

Trustee Rogers made a motion which was seconded by Trustee Becherer to adjourn. All were in favor. Motion was granted. Meeting adjourned at 9:25 pm.
