City of Carmi City Council met July 7

City of Carmi City Council met July 7.

Here are the minutes provided by the council:

The Carmi City Council met at 5:30 p.m. in the Council Room of the Municipal Building, 225 East Main Street for the regularly scheduled meeting.

Prior to opening the council meeting, Mayor Pollard asked Alderman Winkleman to give the invocation followed by the Pledge of Allegiance.

Mayor Pollard presided with the following Aldermen present: Steve Winkleman, Mark W. Blake, Tracy Nelson, James Totten, Jeremy Courson, Mike Knight, Sheila Headlee, and Doug Hays.

The minutes from the June 21, 2022 council meeting were presented. Motion was made by Alderman Courson and seconded by Alderman Totten to approve the minutes as presented. The motion carried on roll call by each Alderman present answering “yes.”

For council consideration, discussion, and possible approval

1. Review and/or accept bid for residential trash service in the City of Carmi. Received were a five-year bid from Bulldog Acquisitions LLC to provide residential trash service in the City of Carmi beginning August 1, 2022. Year 1 – $18.50, Year 2- $19.42, Year 3 – $20.39, Year 4- $21.41, Year 5 – $22.48. A letter of no bid was received from Republic Services. Representatives from Bulldog were present for any additional questions. Alderman Winkleman asked if the days for trash pickup would stay the same with Bulldog. District Manager, Dan Hanson, stated the days would stay the same. He also stated they have 26 cities for which they do trash service for and they are very excited for the opportunity to serve Carmi. Alderman Headlee made a motion to accept the bid proposal by Bulldog Acquisitions, LLC beginning August 1, 2022 thru July 31, 2027. The motion was seconded by Alderman Courson. The motion carried on roll call by each Aldermen present answering “yes.” The bid will be sent to City Attorney, Greg Stewart, for final review before signing.

Reports and/or updates from Mayor Pollard

Mayor Pollard thanked Fire Chief Larry Hite, Carmi Fire Department crews, surrounding fire departments, as well as all the City of Carmi employees for their help with the fire at the old lumber building on July 2, 2022.

Adjournment

At 5:45 p.m. Alderman Courson made a motion to adjourn. The motion was seconded by Alderman Headlee. The motion carried on roll call by each Alderman present answering “yes.”
