Community Unit School District 200 Board of Education met Aug. 11.

Here are the minutes provided by the board:

A special meeting of the Board of Education of Community Unit School District 200, DuPage County, Illinois, was called to order at the School Service Center 130 W Park Ave, Wheaton, IL, by Board President Chris Crabtree at 5:30 PM.

ROLL CALL

Upon the roll being called, the following were present:

Board Members: Mrs. Chris Crabtree

Mr. Rob Hanlon (arrived at 6:14 PM)

Mr. Dave Long

Mrs. Angela Blatner

Mrs. Susan Booton

Mr. Brad Paulsen

Also in Attendance: Dr. Jeff Schuler, Superintendent

Dr. Charlie Kyle, Assistant Superintendent for Administrative Services Mr. Bryan Buck, Principal, Monroe Middle School Mr. Anthony Crespo, Assistant Principal, Monroe Middle School

PUBLIC COMMENTS

None

ADJOURN TO CLOSED SESSION

MOTION

Member Crabtree moved, Member Booton seconded to adjourn to Closed Session for the purpose of discussing Student Disciplinary Cases 5 ILCS 120/2(c) (9).

Upon a roll call being taken, the vote was: AYE 5, NAY 0. The motion carried 5-0.

The meeting was adjourned to Closed Session at 5:31 PM.

Action was expected following the Closed Session on Student Disciplinary Cases. 5 ILCS 120/2(c) (9).

RECONVENE IN OPEN SESSION

Member Booton moved, Member Paulsen seconded to reconvene in Open Session. Upon a roll call being taken, the vote was: AYE 6, NAY 0. The motion carried 6-0.

Roll call was taken and the open session was reconvened at 6:42 PM.

ACTION ON CLOSED SESSION ITEMS

Approval of Student Discipline Recommendation, Student E2022-23-01 The Board of Education is authorized to expel students guilty of gross disobedience or misconduct for a period not to exceed two years. The Board, in Closed Session, reviewed information regarding a student discipline issue.

It was recommended that the Board approve the administrative recommendation related to the student disciplinary matter reviewed in Closed Session.

MOTION

Member Crabtree moved, Member Paulsen seconded to approve the student discipline recommendation determined in closed session for student E2022-23-01. Upon a roll call being taken, the vote was: AYE 6, NAY 0. The motion carried 6-0.

ADJOURN TO CLOSED SESSION

MOTION

Member Crabtree moved, Member Booton seconded to adjourn to Closed Session for the purpose of discussing the selection of a person to fill a public office, as defined in the Open Meetings Act, including a vacancy in a public office, when the public body is given power to appoint under law or ordinance, or the discipline, performance or removal of the occupant of a public office, when the public body is given power to remove the occupant under law or ordinance. 5 ILCS 120/2(c)(3)

Upon a roll call being taken, the vote was: AYE 6, NAY 0. The motion carried 6-0.

The meeting was adjourned to Closed Session at 6:47 PM.

There will be no action taken following the Closed Session for 5 ILCS 120/2 (c)(3).

MOTION

There being no further business to come before the Board, Member Booton moved, Member Hanlon seconded to adjourn the meeting. Upon a voice call being taken, all were in favor and the motion carried 6-0.

The meeting was adjourned at 9:10 PM.
