The Honor Flight Network aims to give veterans the chance to travel to the Nation's capital free of charge to visit memorials of wars they bravely fought in, State Rep. Dave Severin (R-Benton) enjoys seeing these flights take off and land.
Severin welcomed former service members aboard the Veterans Honor Flight of Southern Illinois' Mission 9 home at Veterans Airport of Southern Illinois.
"Since taking office, I have had the honor of seeing off and welcoming back several Honor flights," Severin wrote in an October 4 Facebook post. "It doesn't matter how often I do this, the appreciation I feel for these heroes continues to grow. Thank you to everyone who organized today's events. Thank you to our Nation's heroes!"
There are several hubs in the Prairie State for the Honor Flight Network. According to the organization's website, locations include Rosemont, Peoria, Quincy, and others.
Severin was first elected to The Illinois House of Representatives in 2017. He's served on the Judiciary - Criminal and Mental Health & Addiction committee, the house website pointed out.
Last month, Severin was endorsed by the Nation Federation of Independent Business, North Egypt News reported. He ran unopposed in the June primary and remains unchallenged in the November general election.
