City of Carmi City Council met Nov. 1.
Here are the minutes provided by the council:
The Carmi City Council met at 5:30 p.m. in the Council Room of the Municipal Building, 225 East Main Street for the regularly scheduled meeting.
Prior to opening the council meeting, Mayor Pollard asked Alderman Winkleman to give the invocation followed by the Pledge of Allegiance.
Mayor Pollard presided with the following Aldermen present: Steve Winkleman, Mark W. Blake, Tracy Nelson, Mike Knight, Sheila Headlee, Jeremy Courson, James Totten and Doug Hays.
The minutes from the October 18, 2022, council meeting were presented for approval. Motion was made by Alderman Totten and seconded by Alderman Hays to approve the minutes as presented. The motion carried on roll call by each Alderman present answering “yes” except Alderman Winkleman and Headlee who abstained.
For council consideration, discussion, and possible approval
a) Accept bid from Kiefer Brothers Construction for 6th Street Sanitary Sewer Replacement for $239,755.00. Mayor Pollard explained that due to one easement not being completed, this item would need to be tabled. Alderman Hays made a motion to table the acceptance of the bid from Kiefer Brothers. Alderman Courson seconded the motion. The motion carried on roll call with each Aldermen present answering “yes.”
b) Christmas bonuses for City employees and Light and Water employees. (Previously given $60.00 plus $5.00 per year of longevity for full-time employees and a flat $60.00 for part-time employees, firemen, and EMA members). Alderman Headlee made a motion to approve the Christmas bonuses as presented for City and Light & Water employees.
Reports and/or updates from Mayor Pollard
Mayor Pollard announced it was time to pick up petitions for the Aldermen of all 4 wards in the City of Carmi. These petitions are available at City Hall from 8 a.m. until 4 p.m. All petitions must be received by the City Clerk’s office no later than December 19, 2022 at 4:00 p.m. The election will be held on April 4, 2023.

At 5:34 p.m. Alderman Headlee made a motion to adjourn. The motion was seconded by Alderman Winkleman. The motion carried on roll call by each Alderman present answering “yes.”
