Jasper Community Consolidated School District #17 Board of Education met Dec. 15.

The regular meeting of the Jasper School Board of Education was called to order by Board President Derek Demaret and Beth Titzer taking the minutes, beginning at 6:00 p.m. with following board members present:

Board Members Present: Derek Demaret, Beth Titzer, Lance Hinkle, Jon Lafikes (left at 6:30), Josh Zurliene & Caitlin Glisson

Board Members Absent: Andrew Weaver

The consent agenda, which includes minutes of previous regular board meeting, executive session and destruction of closed session minutes, treasurer’s report, approval of monthly bills and payroll and verification of years of service were then approved on a motion by Josh Zurliene and seconded by Jon Lafikes. The votes were as follows:

Andrew Weaver –absent   Caitlin Glisson-yes

Beth Titzer – yes

A motion was made by Lance Hinkle and seconded by Caitlin Glisson to approve FY24 levy as presented with FY23 beginning budget fund balances as follows: General Education $722, 969, Operations & Maintenance $18,466, Debt Service $8,836, Transportation $251,907, IMRF/Social Security $86,844, Capital Projects $0, Working Cash $ 129,576, Tort $203,168, Fire Prevention & Safety $11,578 and to approve 70/30 extension/abatement of Series 2016A and Series 2020 funding bonds for a total of $93,410 extension and $40,032 abatement of funds. The votes were as follows:

Beth Titzer – yes

A motion was made by Beth Titzer and seconded by Lance Hinkle to approve Andrew Diesel as Boys’ Pee Wee Basketball Coach for a stipend of $569.25. The votes were as follows:

Andrew Weaver –absent   Caitlin Glisson-yes

Beth Titzer – yes

A motion was made by Derek Demaret and seconded by Lance Hinkle to approve moving into executive closed session at 6:45 pm in accordance with school board policy 2:220-E2 items #1, the performance of specific employees of the District. The votes were as follows:

Lance Hinkle –yes             Jon Lafikes –absent

Andrew Weaver –absent   Caitlin Glisson-yes

Beth Titzer – yes

A motion was made by Josh Zurliene and seconded by Caitlin Glisson to approve moving out of executive closed session at 6:55 p.m. in accordance with school items #1, the performance of specific employees of the District. The votes were as follows:

Lance Hinkle –yes             Jon Lafikes –absent

Andrew Weaver –absent   Caitlin Glisson-yes

Beth Titzer – yes

A motion was made by Beth Titzer and seconded by Caitlin Glisson to approve executive session minutes as recorded. The votes were as follows:

A motion was made by Andrew Weaver and seconded by Caitlin Glisson adjourn the meeting at 7:02 p.m. The votes were as follows:
