Petitions for the Consolidated Election to be held on April 4, 2023 are available now from City Clerk Tina Hutchcraft. 

Petitions available for the election of:Mayor (two-year term)

First Ward Alderman - Ward 1 consists of all that part of the City of Fairfield lying East of North 1st street and South 1st Street.

Second Ward Alderman - Ward 2 consists of all that part of the City of Fairfield lying north of Elm St., West of N. 1st and East of NW 7th Street.

Third Ward Alderman - Ward 3 consists of all that part of the City of Fairfield lying South of Elm Street, west of North 1st Street and South 1st Street and East of NW 7th Street and SW 7th Street.

Fourth Ward Alderman -  Ward 4 consists of all that part of the City of Fairfield lying West of NW 7th Street and SW 7th Street.

Office hours are 7:00 a.m. – 12:00 p.m. and 1:00 p.m. – 4:00 p.m.  

A Mayor will be elected for a two-year term to fill the unexpired term of Mayor Dreith and one alderman from each of the City’s four wards will be elected for a four-year term.  

Filing period for those petitions is December 12 – December 19.  The office of the City Clerk will be open from 7:00 a.m. to 4:00 p.m. beginning December 12, 2022 through December 19, 2022 for the purpose of accepting candidate petitions for the consolidated election to be held April 4, 2023.  The office will remain open until 5:00 p.m. on December 19, 2022 and the office closes 12:00 – 1:00 for lunch each day.  

All petitions filed by persons waiting in line at the office of the local election official as of 7:00 a.m. on the first day of filing shall be deemed simultaneously filed and a filing-lottery will be held.  

Should a simultaneous lottery/lotteries be necessary, the lotteries will be scheduled for Wednesday, December 21, 2022 at 9:00 a.m. in the City Clerk’s office.
