New training, certification opportunities open for Wabash County residents

Grow Wabash County is excited to announce certification classes are starting strong in 2023 thanks to continued partnership with Freedom Academy, Ivy Tech Community College, and Besiege, LLC. 

Certification training programs currently open for registration and that are slated to start in January 2023 details are below: 

Welding Certification trainingStudents can now register with Ivy Tech Community College for its upcoming Welding Certification program. This course will begin on January 23, 2023 and will meet from 4-8 p.m. every Monday, Tuesday, Thursday through March 9 at Heartland Career Center located at 79 S 200 W, in Wabash.

Free funding available for qualified candidates. Those interested in registering or learning more about funding for this welding course can do so by contacting Heather Vance at hvance6@ivytech.edu or by calling (260) 355-9462. 

CNC Machining – Mill trainingIvy Tech Community College is now accepting registrations for its upcoming CNC Machining certification course slated to run from January 30, 2023 through March 27, 2023. This course will meet from 4-8 p.m. every Monday, Tuesday, Thursday through March 27 at Heartland Career Center located at 79 S 200 W, in Wabash.

Those interested in registering or for funding eligibility for this CNC Machining course can do so by contacting Kassandra Flanagan at kflanagan9@ivytech.edu or by calling (260) 480-4214. 

Certified Clinical Medical Assistant (CCMA) trainingRegistration is also open for Freedom Academy’s upcoming Certified Clinical Medical Assistant (CCMA) training. This course will begin on January 30, 2023 and will meet from 4-8 p.m. every Monday, Tuesday, Wednesday through April 18, 2023 at Heartland Career Center located at 79 S 200 W, in Wabash.

Those interested in registering for this CCMA course can do so by contacting Jolene Frey at jfrey@freedomacademy.net, by calling (260) 347-0887 or register online at freedomacademy.net. 

Commercial Drivers License (CDL) Class A License certifications This on-demand course will include a combination of online training, group instruction, and individual driving time with an instructor to prepare students to take the Class A CDL License test.

To qualify for this program, applicants must be at least 18 years of age and must possess a valid driver’s license without any violations within the last year. Contact Jennifer Tippmann at jtippmann@drivingcts.com or by phone at (260) 439-8380 to get started. 

Lean Six Sigma Black BeltPurdue MEP is holding an in-person Lean Six Sigma Black Belt training from January 5th through February 9th from 8am to 4pm at Grow Wabash County located at 214 S Wabash St Wabash, IN. Applicants must have previously passed the Green Belt certification to participate in this advanced course. To register, contact Mike Hensley at mhensle@purdue.edu. 

Other certification programsGrow Wabash County is also working closely with various other educational partners to organize and launch a variety of other skills and certification training programs for Wabash County residents. Updates regarding current and future certification programs and courses can be found at www.growwabashcounty.com/trainingopportunities.

Applicants in need of financial assistance for these courses are encouraged to discuss various scholarship and funding opportunities with the training provider when they reach out to register for their class of choice.
