Jarrod Pruitt addressed the board during public comment. He questioned if the board had experienced or heard of no-contact orders between students. Mrs. Harrelson requested clarification of his question. He stated that no-contact orders are similar to restraining orders without the court, essentially an agreement between students and their families. Mr. Pruitt stated he could site instances in other districts where these no-contact orders are taking place. Mrs. Harrelson answered that we have not had that in our district, we have had restraining orders but those instances involved an adult, never student-to-student. She has not heard of the no-contact orders taking place between students in other districts including those in our community.
Superintendent Julie Harrelson presented the Treasurer’s Report and current financial information. Bank balances as of October 31, 2022:
Fairfield National Bank Checking: $1,814,061.80

Mrs. Harrelson presented the Superintendent’s Report. We have been approved for a digital equity grant of $13,300. She will discuss with teachers at next week’s meeting for potential items to be purchased with the funds. We have applied for the property tax relief grant but do not expect it to be approved. Last month’s chili supper and masquerade were well attended and profited $910 and $2100 respectively. New social studies curriculum has been purchased and implemented. Our old curriculum was worn and in need of an update. The fire marshal and building inspection went well with only two findings, volleyball equipment obstructing an exit door and alarm detectors that were not tested due to complications when the company was here. IAR test scores comparison between area districts show New Hope scoring high. The band concert and kindergarten through second grade Christmas program is December 9th at 6:00 P.M. Board petitions and statement of economic interests are due December 12th through December 19th. Amendment 1 looks like it will pass but should not affect us. Jeremy Gray was named as the IASB delegate to attend the meeting at the Joint Annual Conference.
