Illinois State Rep. Dave Severin shared some recent activities from his district.
"Two awesome events to share today. First up was indoor softball for Southern Illinois Special Olympics at the Du Quoin State Fairgrounds. Next, I presented a Certificate of Congratulations to Tim Lee at Belle Rive Missionary Baptist Church celebrating 50 years of service to the ministry," Severin wrote in a Jan. 15 Facebook post. "Thank you to everyone that works each day to make life better for other people. The roads on the way to Belle Rive were in great shape. God Bless you!"
Rep. Severin has served in the Illinois House of Representatives, first for the 117th District since 2016. Following redistricting, Severin's election to serve in the 116th District in Nov. 2022 was uncontested according to the Chicago-Sun Times.
According to a press release from his website, Severin was sworn in on Jan. 11, 2023. He issued a statement that gives constituents an idea of his priorities.
“Since taking office as State Representative, I have voted against the radical liberal agenda of the leftist politicians that now control Illinois government,” Severin said, according to the press release. “As I take over as the State Representative of a new territory, the people that I will serve as 116th district State Representative should know that I have a record of protecting the right to life, opposing radical abortion laws, opposing radical gun control laws, and rejecting laws that have crippled our energy grid and caused our energy bills to spike out of control. I have stood against pay raises for politicians, I refused to take a pension. I strongly opposed Governor Pritzker’s massive progressive income tax hike and fought back against his unconstitutional, dangerous, and harmful COVID-19 Executive Orders and lockdown mandates time and time again.”
Rep. Dave Severin is a state representative who resides in Benton, according to the Illinois House. He was first elected to the Illinois House in 2017. A Republican, his legislative experience includes serving on the Judiciary - Criminal and Mental Health & Addiction.
