Fairfield Memorial Hospital will host a community blood drive
Fairfield Memorial Hospital will host a community blood drive with the American Red Cross on February 3rd, 2023 from 10:30am to 3:30pm as current inventories continue to remain at critical levels across the country.
For more information or to make an appointment to donate, call 618-847-8242 or sign up online at redcrossblood.org with sponsor code: FairfieldMemorial.
“With blood supplies being at a critical state, it is imperative that Fairfield Memorial Hospital partners with the Red Cross to recruit and collect as much blood as possible. We are urging healthy, eligible individuals to schedule a blood or platelet donation.” said FMH CEO, Katherine Bunting-Williams
The need for blood is constant and only volunteer donors can fulfill that need for patients in our community. Nationwide, someone needs a unit of blood every 2 to 3 seconds and most of us will need blood in our lifetime.
Donors of all blood types are needed, especially those with types O negative, B negative and A negative. According to the Red Cross, type O negative is the universal blood type that can be safely transfused to anyone, and is often used to treat trauma patients.
A Blood Drive will be held at Fairfield Memorial Hospital’s Educational Annex Building at 203 Northwest 10th Street in Fairfield. The blood drive will be held on February 3rd from 10:30a.m. to 3:30p.m. If you would like to schedule your appointment you can do so by visiting redcrossblood.org with sponsor code: FairfieldMemorial or you can call Shauna Williams, Marketing Director, at 618-847-8242.
