New Hope Consolidated Community School District #6 Board of Education met Dec. 20

Here are the minutes provided by the board:

The New Hope Board of Education met on December 20, 2022 at 6:00 P.M. in the work room of the school.

President Nate Carter called the meeting to order at 6:00 P.M.

Roll Call:

Also Present: Julie Harrelson, Superintendent

Ryan Green made a motion to approve the November 15, 2022 regular meeting minutes with no corrections noted. Second by Jason Simpson.

Voice Vote: Yea: Jason Simpson, Derek Smothers, Nate Carter, Ryan Green, Jeremy Gray

Nay: None Carried

Superintendent Julie Harrelson presented the Treasurer’s Report and current financial information. Bank balances as of November 30, 2022:

Fairfield National Bank Checking: $1,651,188.89

IPTIP: $960.16

Fairfield National Bank Money Market: $497,724.35

Derek Smothers made a motion to accept the treasurer’s report. Second by Jeremy Gray.

Voice Vote: Yea: Ryan Green, Jeremy Gray, Jason Simpson, Derek Smothers, Nate Carter

Nay: None Carried

Jason Simpson made a motion to pay the bills with no additions or exclusions noted. Second by Derek Smothers.

Mrs. Harrelson presented the Superintendent’s Report. Joint Annual Conference review. A new law states that fund balances must be reported before approving the tax levy. The fund balances were reported from the treasurer’s report that was included in the board packets. New Beginnings Church made a donation of $700 for use of the activity bus in November. A FOIA request from the same union that has requested information before on the roofing project resulted in over sixty pages of information. The Illinois Department of Labor is investigating the project. The school and roofing company have not done anything wrong. The benefit concert held at Sork Farms resulted in a $3,785.71 donation to be made to New Hope for use on families in need. We have planned to use the funds for dental work needed on a qualifying student. Superintendent evaluation is next month.

1. First reading of board policy update press issue 110.

2. Jason Simpson made a motion to approve tax levy at 4.99 percent. Second by Ryan Green.

Nay: None Carried

Jason Simpson made a motion to enter executive session at 6:10 P.M. for student discipline, individual student matter, personnel employment and compensation. Second by Jeremy Gray.

Voice Vote: Yea: Jeremy Gray, Jason Simpson, Derek Smothers, Nate Carter, Ryan Green

Nay: None Carried

Jason Simpson made a motion to return to open session at 6:57 P.M. Second by Jeremy Gray.

Voice Vote: Yea: Jason Simpson, Derek Smothers, Nate Carter, Ryan Green, Jeremy Gray

Nay: None Carried

3. No action was taken on agenda item 3, Rob Edwards resignation as girls peewee coach.

4. No action was taken on agenda item 4, advertise for girls peewee coach.

5. Jason Simpson made a motion to advertise for teacher. Second by Jeremy Gray.

Voice Vote: Yea: Nate Carter, Ryan Green, Jeremy Gray, Jason Simpson, Derek Smothers

Nay: None Carried

6. Ryan Green made a motion to hire Julie Ann Snackers as paraprofessional. Second by Derek Smothers.

Voice Vote: Yea: Ryan Green, Jeremy Gray, Jason Simpson, Derek Smothers, Nate Carter

Nay: None Carried

Jason Simpson made a motion to adjourn the meeting at 6:59 P.M. Second by Jeremy Gray.
