Community Unit School District 201 Board of Education met Jan. 24.

Here are the minutes provided by the board:

On January 24, 2023, at 6:01 p.m. Vice President Radogno *called to order the regular meeting of the Community Unit School District 201 Board of Education.

Members present: Laura Coyle, Kevin Marren, Angela Steketee, Leah Conover, Carlos Hevia, Jessica Radogno

Members absent: Adina Hoover

Also present: Superintendent Kevin Carey, Business Manager Anthony Ruelli, and the Superintendent's Administrative Assistant, Shannon Cossairt

Jessica Radogno led the assembly in the Pledge of Allegiance.

Motion by Ms. Coyle, second by Mr. Marren, to enter closed session to discuss personnel issues, student discipline, collective bargaining and purchase release of real property.

Ayes: Conover, Radogno, Hevia, Marren Coyle, Steketee,

Nays: None.

Motion Carried.

The Board moved to closed session at 6:02 p.m.

The Board returned to open session at 6:45 p.m.

None at this time.

Motion by Ms. Conover, second by Ms. Steketee, to approve the minutes of the January 10, 2023 regular meeting of the Board of Education, as presented.

Ayes: Conover, Radogno, Hevia, Marren Coyle, Steketee

Nays: None.

Motion Carried.

Motion by Ms. Coyle, second by Mr. Marren, to approve the minutes of the first closed session of the January 10, 2023, regular meeting of the Board of Education, as presented.

Ayes: Radogno, Conover, Hevia, Steketee, Coyle, Marren

Nays: None.

Motion Carried.

Motion by Mr. Hevia, second by Mr. Marren, to approve the minutes of the second closed session of the January 10, 2023, regular meeting of the Board of Education, as presented.

Ayes: Radogno, Conover, Hevia, Steketee, Coyle, Marren

Nays: None.

Motion Carried.

CONSENT AGENDA

Motion by Ms. Conover, second by Mr. Marren, to approve the Consent Agenda as presented.

1. Personnel Recommendations

2. Approval of January 2023 Expenditure Report

3. Ratification of December 2022 Payroll

Ayes: Radogno, Hevia, Marren, Coyle, Steketee, Conover

Nays: None

Motion Carried.

Anthony Ruelli, CSBO, gave an update on the December financials. He reviewed the revenue and the expenses for the District. All reports are available to view in BoardDocs.

The food service department has received a grant to purchase a new dishwasher at the high school. The dishwasher is 26 years old. The Board had questions regarding the option to lease.

The current history books at the high school were purchased in 2000. The high school would like to purchase updated copies. The Board will vote on this at the February 14, 2023 meeting.

Anthony Ruelli, CSBO, shared how the Financial Committee is made up and what it does. Currently they are going over what the financials look like and diving into capital projects. He would like to encourage the community to attend.

SUPERINTENDENT'S REPORT

Kindergarten Registration

Kindergarten Open House for incoming kindergarteners will be on March 14, 2023. CUSD 201 offers full day and both monolingual and dual lingual programs. Registration dates are forth coming.

Update on Meeting Minutes/Agendas/Curriculum

None at this time.

BOARD REPORTS

Ms. Conover will be attending the SASED Board meeting on January 25, 2023. Ms. Steketee shared the junior high needs parent volunteers.
