Norris City-Omaha-Enfield Community Unit School District #3 Board of Education met Feb. 14.

Here are the minutes provided by the board:

The regular meeting of the Board of Education of the Norris City-Omaha-Enfield Community Unit School District #3 of White, Hamilton and Gallatin Counties, Illinois, was called to order by Joe Lane at 7:00 p.m. in the Superintendent's Office on Wednesday, February 15, 2023. All members had been previously notified and those answering roll call were: Frank Graves, Heath Rush, Mike Hite, Joe Lane, and Paul Black. Also attending were Matt Vollman, Carla Carter, David Reavis, Brad Wehlermann, and Jessica Jackson. Lincoln Hobbs and Matt McArthy were absent. 

Frank Graves made the motion to accept the minutes as presented. Mike Hite seconded. A unanimous vote followed. 

Lincoln Hobbs entered the meeting. 

The bills were approved on a motion by Joe Lane and second by Mike Hite. Roll Call Vote: Frank Graves, Aye; Lincoln Hobbs, Aye; Heath Rush, Aye; Mike Hite, Aye; Joe Lane, Aye; and Paul Black, Aye. Motion Carried. 

Principal Reports- 

High School- Mr. Wehlermann reported attendance at 90.1%. Basketball regionals start Saturday evening. He presented the Board members with a ticket to the play on March 10 and 11. Dave Davis from WSIL will be a guest speaker for the students. 

NCO- Mr. Reavis reported attendance at 94.6%. Fifth and sixth grade basketball and Jr. High Volleyball has started and is going well. Dental Safari will be coming this month. February 17 will be CPR training for all non-certified staff. 

Booth- Mrs. Carter reported attendance at 91%. The students made valentines and gifts for the staff and residents of the Enfield nursing home. PTO is planning bingo for March 24 to raise money for end of the year student activities. She recognized Deborah Campbell for stepping up as the head cook temporarily. 

The Booth Trust report was approved on a motion by Lincoln Hobbs and a second by Joe Lane. The balance is $35,766.87. Roll Call Vote: Frank Graves, Aye; Lincoln Hobbs, Aye; Heath Rush, Aye; Mike Hite, Aye; Joe Lane, Aye; and Paul Black, Aye. Motion Carried. 

A motion was made by Joe Lane to let bids for mowing. Lincoln Hobbs seconded. A unanimous vote followed. 

Mike Hite made the motion to purchase two 2024 Blue Bird 71 Passenger School Buses for $120,004.00/each and to purchase one 2024 Chrysler Mini Van for the purpose of Drivers Education for $38,469.26. Joe Lane seconded. Roll Call Vote: Frank Graves, Aye; Lincoln Hobbs, Aye; Heath Rush, Aye; Mike Hite, Aye; Joe Lane, Aye; and Paul Black, Aye. Motion Carried. 

Joe Lane made the motion to approve the Resolution Authorizing Sale of School Personal Property to sell 6 surplus vehicles by sealed bid. A copy of the resolution to follow these minutes. Heath Rush seconded. Roll Call Vote: Frank Graves, Aye; Lincoln Hobbs, Aye; Heath Rush, Aye; Mike Hite, Aye; Joe Lane, Aye; and Paul Black, Aye. Motion Carried. 

Joe Lane made the motion to employ Stephen Humphrey as high school golf coach beginning the 23/24 school year. Heath Rush seconded. Roll Call Vote: Frank Graves, Aye; Lincoln Hobbs, Aye; Heath Rush, Aye; Mike Hite, Aye; Joe Lane, Aye; and Paul Black, Aye. Motion Carried. 

Joe Lane made the motion to hire Jamie Sauls as high school softball coach. Frank Graves seconded. Roll Call Vote: Frank Graves, Aye; Lincoln Hobbs, Aye; Heath Rush, Aye; Mike Hite, Aye; Joe Lane, Aye; and Paul Black, Aye. Motion Carried. 

The meeting adjourned at 7:54 p.m. on a motion by Joe Lane and second by Mike Hite. A unanimous vote followed.
