2021 Parolees Recap: Who was paroled in Gallatin County?

There were eight offenders released on parole during 2021 that live in Gallatin County, according to Illinois Department of Corrections data obtained by SE Illinois News.

The data shows seven men and one woman were released in Gallatin County. Of the parolees, two were veterans, and the median age was 41. The youngest parolee was a 27-year-old man convicted of a crime involving drugs in 2019, and the oldest was a 48-year-old man convicted of a crime involving drugs in 2020.

The offender who was incarcerated the longest was Henry A. Barnes. He was convicted of a crime involving one or more weapons in 2016 when he was 38 years old. He is now 44.

Under state law, paroled offenders are still in legal custody of the IDOC, meaning they can be taken back to a correctional center at any time if the state has probable cause or a warrant.

The table below gives a breakdown of how many offenders were paroled in 2021 in each Gallatin County.
