Allendale Community Consolidated School District 17 Board of Education met Feb. 15.

The Board of Education of Allendale School District #17, Wabash County, Illinois, met in regular session on Wednesday, February 15, 2023. The meeting was held at the Allendale School, 101 N. Third Street, Allendale, IL. The meeting was called to order at 6:02 PM.
The following members were present:

Gary Buchanan
Richard Gochenour
Miles Marcotte
Absent were Jon Michael Deisher, Beth Etzkorn, and Tia Morgan. Also, present was Superintendent Bob Bowser, Assistant Principal Cindy Brogan, Administrative Assistant Sarah Courter, and District Treasurer Debbie Hipsher.
APPROVE CONSENT AGENDA
Richard Gochenour made the motion to approve the Consent Agenda as follows: Minutes of the Regular Meeting held Wednesday, January 18, 2023; Financial Reports – Treasurer’s Report, Activity Fund, Imprest Fund; Gross Payrolls, and Bills exclusive of Payroll. Upon said motion being seconded by Ryan Andrews, President Gary Buchanan put the question and the roll being called, the following members voted:

ADMINISTRATION –
Superintendent Bob Bowser gave updates on the following: Financial Update - 1% Sales Tax $8,708.64 payable in March for November 2022; Expenditures for the month: Education 147,702, Building 10,104, Transportation 5,268 with a 3-Fund Total of 163,074; Sports - Allendale has 8 girls for volleyball co-op with Regionals in March, Track will follow volleyball, Boys basketball had their uniform fundraiser of parent vs player game along with a free-will chili supper; Facility Update - Exterior doors have a few screws bent and will be replaced, will install a solar light for the flagpole, front foyer ceiling repaired and painted, other painted ceiling portions cleaned; Transportation - None; Other - finished up the yearly Dairy Dee Fundraiser with 28 items short of last year’s sales.
Assistant Principal Cindy Brogan shared with the board about painting each class’s chosen “Word,” Olivia Smith did the wording on each board, this month’s Circles includes topics “you are enough” and “I like myself;” March 2nd is Reading Night for PK-4th grades - it will be here at school with several activities for students.

APPROVE SCHOOL PHOTOGRAPHER FOR 2023-2024
Richard Gochenour moved to approve Aly Mae Images as the school photographer for 2023-2024. Upon said motion being seconded by Ryan Andrews, the voice vote was taken and the motion carried.
APPROVAL TO DISCARD OBSOLETE/EXCESS EQUIPMENT
Richard Gochenour moved to approve declaring the listed items as obsolete/excess equipment. Upon said motion being seconded by Ryan Andrews, the voice vote was taken and the motion carried. Surplus List includes: Samsung Chromebooks 500c (12 Total).
APPROVE SCHOOL BOARD POLICY UPDATES
Richard Gochenour made the motion to adopt all of the updated policies presented at the board meeting. Upon said motion being seconded by Ryan Andrews, the President put the question and the voice vote was taken and the motion carried.
APPROVE 2023-2024 SCHOOL CALENDAR
Richard Gochenour moved to adopt the 2023-2024 School Calendar as presented. Upon said motion being seconded by Ryan Andrews, the voice vote was taken and the motion carried.
GO TO CLOSED SESSION
Richard Gochenour moved to adjourn to Closed Session at 6:41 PM - Reason - List Number(s) #1 - Appointments, employment, compensation, discipline, performance or dismissal of specific employees and #9 - Student Disciplinary Cases. Upon said motion being seconded by Ryan Andrews, the President put the question, and the roll being called, the following members voted:
