Illinois Rep. Patrick Windhorst encouraged baseball lovers and those in need of summer work to try to earn a position with the Thrillville Thrillbillies during an upcoming job fair.
"Are you a baseball fan looking for a fun opportunity for part time work this summer?" He wrote April 12 on Facebook. "The Thrillville Thrillbillies may be looking for you! An upcoming job fair at Mtn Dew Park is offering opportunities for everything from concessions to the entertainment team. More information can be found here," sharing a link to a story by WSIL about the fair.
The Thrillbillies are a new Prospect League baseball team based in Marion, IL. They are about to open their inaugural Season at Mt. Dew Park, the former Rent One Park in Marion.
During the hiring event, the team looks to find seasonal employees to fill roles from concessions to team mascot, entertainment team and, for anyone age 21 and older, bartenders, according to WSIL.
"From large concerts, like Brandley Gilbert and Luke Combs, to community events, like PBR Bull Riding, Nitro Circus and the Colt World Series, Mtn Dew Park, formerly Rent One Park, has brought some exciting events to Southern Illinois since the ballpark opened its doors in 2007," the team stated. "And, in 2023, baseball returns to Mtn Dew Park with the Thrillville Thrillbillies, a wood-bat collegiate summer baseball league."
In addition, the Thrillbillies are holding a coloring contest and a contest to name the team's mascot, according to a story by KFVS. The Thrillbillies' schedule for May and June is available at the team website, along with information about season tickets and team merchandise.
Windhorst was first elected to the Illinois House in 2018. During his term in the General Assembly, he has served on the Restorative Justice Committee and Judiciary-Criminal, according to his House biography.
