Village of Smithton Committee of a Whole met March 28.
Here are the minutes provided by the committee:
Mayor Smallwood called the meeting to order at 7:00 pm at Village Hall. Trustees Becherer, Rogers, Elbe, Hildreth, Mourey, and Hopkins were in attendance. Also in attendance was Chief Jason Neff and Joe Morrison.
WALTON’S PROPERTY/PARKING – Mr. Morrison was in attendance to discuss the Walton’s property and parking. Different ideas and suggestions were raised. He will continue to work with the Plaza owners.
POLICE PERSONNEL – Chief Neff reported that Officer Tanner Selph is no longer with the Police Department. It was determined that Ryne Fithian’s start date will be moved to April 4. Andrew Hassel will be hired and sworn in to replace Officer Selph.
FULFORD ANNEXATION – Everyone received a copy of the annexation agreement. Engineer Saeger is in favor of the Board signing the agreement. Everyone agreed with the proposed annexation agreement.
IRRIGATION METER REGULATIONS – The Board discussed the irrigation meter regulations and determined that they will not be making any changes.
DUMPSTER SCREENING – The Board will be requesting Engineer Saeger create proposed language for an ordinance on dumpster screening.
BRIA BUILDING & PROPERTY – The Board discussed this property and determined that Mayor Smallwood would reach out to the CEO of Bria and put in a request to go through the building to see what the state of the building is.
SMITHTON KOUNTRY MARKET – It was agreed for there to be signs posted at each end of Smithton “Shop Smithton First”.
BUDGET – The budget is good and ready to be passed.
EMPLOYEE COMPENSATION PACKAGE – The compensation for the School Resource Officers was discussed. The Board was in agreement for all employee compensations.
Trustee Rogers made a motion which was seconded by Trustee Hildreth to adjourn. All Trustees were in favor. The motion was granted. Meeting adjourned at 8:59 pm.
