Hamilton County Community Unit School District 10 Board of Education met April 18.

Here are the minutes provided by the board:

The Board of Education of Hamilton County Community Unit District No. 10 met in regular session on the evening of April 18, 2023 at 7:00 p.m., in the Administrative Center.

The meeting was called to order by Board President Dennis Lynch. Roll Call was as follows: Present – Steve Becker, Bob Gray, Jeff Lueke, Tim Millenbine, Clint Ragan, Justin Woodrow, and Dennis Lynch.

Motion by Woodrow, second by Lueke to approve the following items under the Consent Agenda: The minutes from the March 21, 2023 Regular Board Meeting, Treasurer’s Report, Budget reports, District bill listing, and the destruction of Executive Session Audio Recordings older than 18 months per Code; Out of state trip: Jr. High 8th Grade Class to Santa Claus, IN to Holiday World on May 18, 2023. Roll Call Vote – Voting Yes – Woodrow, Lueke, Becker, Ragan, Gray, Millenbine, and Lynch. Motion carried.

CORRESPONDENCE – None

VISITORS/Public Comment – Civic students were present for a classroom assignment.

SUPERINTENDENT’S REPORT - Status

Mr. McCollum updated the Board on the following: End-of-year event schedule was given; Brain Games results; State Disbursements owed: $86,692.90.

NEW BUSINESS

Motion by Lueke, second by Ragan to approve membership in the IHSA for the 2023-2024 school year and to appoint Connie Lueke as the official representative. Vote was taken by voice and motion carried.

Motion by Becker, second by Woodrow to approve the 2023-2024 Consolidated District Plan as presented. Roll Call Vote – Voting Yes – Becker, Woodrow, Ragan, Lueke, Millenbine, Gray, and Lynch. Motion carried.

Motion by Gray, second by Ragan to approve applying for the 3 Circles Ag Grant for the 2023- 2024 school year. Roll Call Vote – Voting Yes – Gray, Ragan, Lueke, Millenbine, Becker, Woodrow, and Lynch. Motion carried.

Motion by Becker, second by Gray to approve the Hamilton County Jr. High’s School Improvement Plan as presented. Roll Call Vote – Voting Yes – Becker, Gray, Woodrow, Ragan, Lueke, Millenbine, and Lynch. Motion carried.

Motion by Millenbine, second by Ragan to approve partnering with the Egyptian Health Department at a cost of $15,000 to allow our district to be served by a Family Resource Developer. Roll Call Vote – Voting Yes – Millenbine, Ragan, Woodrow, Gray, Becker, Lueke, and Lynch. Motion carried.

Motion by Becker, second by Gray to approve rescheduling the May board meeting. Vote was taken by voice and motion carried.

Motion by Lueke, second by Woodrow to convene in executive session at 7:14 p.m. to discuss appointment, employment, compensation, discipline, performance or dismissal of a specific employee(s) or office of the public body, and collective bargaining matters pursuant to 5 ILCS 120/2(c)(1)(2). Roll Call Vote – Voting Yes – Lueke, Woodrow, Millenbine, Becker, Gray, Ragan, and Lynch. Motion carried.

Motion by Lueke, second by Becker to come out of executive session at 8:56 p.m. Roll Call Vote – Voting Yes – Lueke, Becker, Gray, Ragan, Woodrow, Millenbine, and Lynch. Motion carried.

Motion by Gray, second by Woodrow to approve the minutes from executive session. Vote was taken by voice and motion carried.

Motion by Ragan, second by Becker to accept a letter of resignation from Audera Willis, Cook, effective April 13, 2023. Roll Call Vote – Voting Yes – Ragan, Becker, Gray, Lueke, Millenbine, Woodrow, and Lynch. Motion carried.

Motion by Ragan, second by Becker to accept a letter of resignation from Brittany Kanik, Jr. High Cheerleading Sponsor, effective April 18, 2023. Roll Call Vote – Voting Yes – Ragan, Becker, Gray, Lueke, Millenbine, Woodrow, and Lynch. Motion carried.

Motion by Becker, second by Ragan to approve medical leave for a non-certified employee beginning April 18, 2023 through May 17, 2023. Roll Call Vote – Voting Yes – Becker, Ragan, Lueke, Gray, Millenbine, Woodrow, and Lynch. Motion carried.

Motion by Becker, second by Ragan to approve family medical leave for a certified employee beginning April 24, 2023 for approximately two weeks. Roll Call Vote – Voting Yes – Becker, Ragan, Lueke, Gray, Millenbine, Woodrow, and Lynch. Motion carried.

Motion by Lueke, second by Becker to approve reassigning Amanda Currie from a Fourth-Grade East Side Elementary Teacher to an English Language Arts Teacher at the Junior High School, contingent upon successful completion of coursework, effective with the start of the 2023-2024 school year. Roll Call Vote – Voting Yes – Lueke, Becker, Gray, Millenbine, Ragan, Woodrow, and Lynch. Motion carried.

Motion by Lueke, second by Becker to approve reassigning Jillian Lenon from a Kindergarten East Side Elementary Teacher to a Second Grade East Side Elementary Teacher, effective with the start of the 2023-2024 school year. Roll Call Vote – Voting Yes – Lueke, Becker, Gray, Millenbine, Ragan, Woodrow, and Lynch. Motion carried.

Motion by Lueke, second by Woodrow to employ Danielle Hutcheson, as a Kindergarten Teacher, assigned to East Side School, contingent upon obtaining proper Illinois Teaching Licensure prior to the beginning of the 2023-2024 school year, and the successful completion of necessary paperwork, effective with the start of the 2023-2024 school year. Roll Call Vote – Voting Yes – Lueke, Woodrow, Gray, Becker, Millenbine, Ragan, and Lynch. Motion Carried.

Motion by Lueke, second by Woodrow to employ Andrew Hillyard, as a Band Teacher/Band Director, contingent upon obtaining proper Illinois Teaching Licensure prior to the beginning of the 2023-2024 school year, and the successful completion of a background check and completion of necessary paperwork, effective with the start of the 2023-2024 school year. Roll Call Vote – Voting Yes – Lueke, Woodrow, Gray, Becker, Millenbine, Ragan, and Lynch. Motion Carried.

Motion by Becker, second by Lueke to employ Kaylee Daily, as a part-time, hourly Childcare Worker, contingent upon the successful completion of a background check and completion of necessary paperwork, effective April 19, 2023. Roll Call Vote – Voting Yes – Becker, Lueke, Gray, Millenbine, Ragan, Woodrow, and Lynch. Motion Carried.

Motion by Ragan, second by Gray to employ Doug Miller as the Jr. High Softball Coach for the 2023-2024 season. Roll Call Vote – Voting Yes – Ragan, Gray, Millenbine, Woodrow, Becker, Lueke, and Lynch. Motion carried.

Motion by Woodrow, second by Ragan to employ Lacy Brookman as the High School Cheerleading Sponsor, contingent upon successful completion of a background check and completion of necessary paperwork, effective for the 2023-2024 season. Roll Call Vote – Voting Yes – Woodrow, Ragan, Gray, Becker, Lueke, Millenbine and Lynch. Motion carried.

Motion by Millenbine, second by Woodrow to employ the following summer hourly positions: Maintenance Workers: Claven Lueke, Braden Flannigan, Chandan Ragan, and Wyatt Richards. Paint Crew: Jackie Parmley, and Linda Shelton. Roll Call Vote – Voting Yes – Millenbine, Woodrow, Lueke, Becker, Gray, Ragan, and Lynch. Motion carried.

Motion by Lueke, second by Becker to employ the following K-12 Summer School Instructors, funded by the ESSER II grant: Cathy Futrell, Sydney Williams, Nicole Rubenacker, Melissa Kaufman, Jeremy Varner, Brooke Robertson, Jenny Allen, and Jessica Varner. Roll Call Vote – Voting Yes – Lueke, Becker, Woodrow, Gray, Millenbine, Ragan, and Lynch. Motion carried.

Motion by Millenbine, second by Woodrow to post for a Jr. High Cheerleading Sponsor. Vote was taken by voice and motion carried.

Motion by Millenbine, second by Woodrow to post for an Elementary Teacher. Vote was taken by voice and motion carried.

Motion by Becker, second by Gray to adjourn. Vote was taken by voice, motion carried and the meeting adjourned at 9:02 p.m.
