CALL TO ORDER
On August 22, 2023, at 6:00 p.m. President Adina Hoover called to order the regular meeting of the Community Unit School District 201 Board of Education.
Roll Call
Members present: Adina Hoover, Kevin Marren, Angela Steketee, Leah Conover, Carlos Hevia, Jessica Radogno
Also present: Superintendent Jack Baldermann; Business Manager Anthony Ruelli; and the Superintendent’s Administrative Assistant, Shannon Cossairt.
Pledge of Allegiance
President Hoover led the assembly in the Pledge of Allegiance.
CLOSED SESSION
Motion by Ms. Conover, second by Marren, to enter closed session to discuss student discipline and personnel issues.
Ayes: Rogers, Steketee, Hevia Radogno, Marren, Conover, Hoover
Nays: None.
Motion Carried.
The Board moved to closed session at 6:01 p.m.
The Board returned to open session at 6:53 p.m.
APPROVAL OF MINUTES August 8, 2023
Motion by Ms. Conover, second by Ms. Steketee, to approve the minutes of the August 8, 2023 regular meeting of the Board of Education, as presented.
Ayes: Hoover, Rogers, Marren, Steketee, Conover, Hevia, Radogno
Nays: None.
Motion Carried.
August 8, 2023 Closed Session
Motion by Mr. Marren, second by Mr. Hevia, to approve the minutes of the closed session of the August 8, 2023, regular meeting of the Board of Education, as presented.
Ayes: Hoover, Rogers, Marren, Steketee, Conover, Hevia, Radogno
Nays: None.
Motion Carried.

Mr. Andrew Kamin gave public comment.
CONSENT AGENDA
Motion by Ms. Radogno, second by Mr. Hevia, to approve the Consent Agenda as presented.

INFORMATION/DISCUSSION
Education Benefit Cooperative
Mel Diaz, Area Executive Vice President, and Casey Kemmerling, Benefits Consultant, of Gallagher presented to the Board information on the Educational Benefit Cooperative. The program would offer additional savings and programs for District staff members and the District. The approval to join the cooperative will be presented at the September 12, 2023 meeting
Office Depot Donation
Miller applied for and received a grant from Office Depot in the amount of $1,726.72 to be used to purchase classroom supplies.
Emergency Days
Superintendent Baldermann reminded the Board we have a signed plan to use remote learning in lieu of emergency days for this school year. The Board would like to use only one day and then have feedback before using a second day if needed.
PR Update
Edith Courington, Director of Community Relations, has put together a list of dates for the PR meetings in the 23-24 school year. All are invited to attend. The list is on the CUSD 201 School Board page.
ACTION ITEMS
Approval of Office Depot Donation
Motion by Mr. Hevia, second by Ms. Conover, to approve the Office Depot donation for $1,726.71 to be used at Miller Elementary for supplies, as presented.

Nays: None.
