Allendale Community Consolidated School District 17 Board of Education met met Oct. 18.

The Board of Education of Allendale School District #17, Wabash County, Illinois, met in regular session on Wednesday, October 18, 2023. The meeting was held at the Allendale School, 101 N. Third Street, Allendale, IL. The meeting was called to order at 6:00 PM.
The following members were present:

Absent was Miles Marcotte. Also present was Supt./Principal Bob Bowser, Administrative Assistant Sarah Courter, Debbie Hipsher, District Treasurer. Community Members present: Laura Polston, Andy Polston, Tara Hayes, Ali Swift, Lacy Abell, Brittany Tewalt, Steven Tewalt, Shelly Deisher, Patricia Baxley, Phillip Potts, Audrey McGee, and Nick McGee.
APPROVE CONSENT AGENDA
Richard Gochenour made the motion to approve the Consent Agenda as follows: Minutes of the Regular Meeting held Wednesday, September 20, 2023; Closed Meeting held Wednesday, September 20, 2023; Regular Special Meeting held Tuesday, October 3, 2023; Closed Special Meeting held Tuesday, October 3, 2023; Financial Reports – Treasurer’s Report, Activity Fund, Imprest Fund; Gross Payrolls, and Bills Exclusive of Payroll. Upon said motion being seconded by Eric Haines, President Gary Buchanan put the question and the roll being called, the following members voted:

ADMINISTRATION –
Superintendent Bob Bowser gave updates on the following: Financial Update - 1% Sales Tax $7,529.43 payable in November for July 2023; Expenditures for the month in the Education $149,755, Building $9,225, & Transportation $46,881 Funds with the 3-Fund Total of $205,861; Facility Update - None; Transportation - Bus #3 has an engine warning light on - appointment with Ruxer Ford on November 20 (Bus is still under warranty); Sports - Nora Meeks (St. Mary’s) and Triptjot “TJ” Singh (PR 12:05) went to compete at the State XC Meet in DuQuoin; Boys Basketball has started - have many 5th & 6th graders; Other - Gard Cards went out on Tuesday; Parent-Teacher Conferences were held on Tuesday and Wednesday evening from 3:30-6:00 PM.
BOARD MEMBERS – Gary Buchanan read a statement to Board Members and Guests present on the rules/laws when speaking in open session board meetings.
CITIZEN - Laura Polston began reading a paper with concerns on the safety of those in the school building. She mentioned an employee by name, then the Board went to Closed Session. GO TO CLOSED SESSION
Richard Gochenour moved to adjourn to Closed Session at 6:30 PM - Reason - List Number(s) #1 - Appointments, employment, compensation, discipline, performance or dismissal of specific employees. Upon said motion being seconded by Ryan Andrews, the President put the question, and the roll being called, the following members voted:

APPROVE ADMINISTRATOR AND TEACHER SALARY AND BENEFITS 2023-2024 Ryan Andrews made the motion to approve the Administrator and Teacher Salary and Benefits 2023-2024 as presented. Upon said motion being seconded by Tia Morgan, the voice vote was taken and the motion carried.
ABATE CAPITAL PROJECTS FUNDS TO DEBT SERVICE FUND
Tia Morgan moved to abate $10,000 from the Capital Projects Fund to the Debt Service Fund. Upon said motion being seconded by Eric Haines, the President put the question and the roll being called, the following members voted:

APPROVAL TO DISCARD OBSOLETE/EXCESS EQUIPMENT
Richard Gochenour moved to approve declaring the 2- Peavey PCX - U12 Wireless receivers and 2- Peavey Wireless microphones as obsolete/excess equipment. Upon said motion being seconded by Tia Morgan, the voice vote was taken and the motion carried.
RESIGNATION - ANDY POLSTON (ASST. BASKETBALL COACH)
Richard Gochenour made the motion to accept the resignation of Andy Polston as Assistant Boys Basketball Coach effective October 11, 2023. Upon said motion being seconded by Eric Haines, the President put the question and the roll being called, the following members voted:
