Community Unit School District #201 Board of Education met Dec. 19.

CALL TO ORDER
On December 19, 2023, at 6:01 p.m. President Hoover called to order the regular meeting of the Community Unit School District 201 Board of Education.
Roll Call
Members Present: Adina Hoover, Whitney Rogers, Jessica Radogno, Carlos Hevia, Angela Steketee, Kevin Marren, Leah Conover
Also present: Superintendent Jack Baldermann, Business Manager, Anthony Ruelli, the Superintendent’s Administrative Assistant, Shannon Cossairt.
Pledge of Allegiance
Adina Hoover led the Assembly in the Pledge of Allegiance.
CLOSED SESSION
Motion by Ms. Radogno, second by Ms. Conover, to enter closed session for the purpose of discussing personnel issues, student discipline, and collective bargaining.
Ayes: Rogers, Conover, Hevia, Marren, Radogno, Steketee, Hoover
Nays: None.
Motion carried.
The Board entered closed session at 6:01 p.m.
The Board returned to open session at 7:05 p.m.
CONDUCT THE PUBLIC HEARING ON THE TENTATIVE 2023 TAX LEVY
The President of the Board of Education, Adina Hoover, calls the Public Hearing to order regarding the proposed 2023 Tax Levy at 7:05 p.m.
Business Manager Anthony Ruelli reviewed the proposed 2023 Tax Levy. Mr. Ruelli gave a presentation to the Board to review the levy.
The President asks if there are any additional comments from the members of the Board of Education regarding the proposed 2023
Tax Levy. Mr. Ruelli answered questions from the Board.
The President asks if there are any public comments concerning the proposed 2023 Tax Levy. There are no public comments.
The President, Adina Hoover, then declares the Public Hearing on the proposed 2023 Tax Levy closed at 7:15 p.m.
APPROVAL OF MINUTES
November 14, 2023
Motion by Ms. Conover, second by Ms. Radogno, to approve the minutes of the November 14, 2023, regular meeting of the Board of Education, as amended.
Ayes: Rogers, Conover, Hevia, Marren, Radogno, Steketee, Hoover
Nays: None.
Motion carried.
November 14, 2023 Motion by Ms. Radogno, second by Ms. Steketee, to approve the minutes of the closed session of the November 14, 2023, regular meeting of the Board of Education, as amended.

CONSENT AGENDA
Motion by Mr. Hevia, second by Mr, Marren, to approve the consent agenda as presented:

3. Approval of the Additional November and December 2023 Expenditure Report
4. Ratification of November 2023 Regular Payroll
5. Approval of Student Tours

INFORMATION and DISCUSSION
Master Facility Plan Steve Cashman, Architect with Cashman, Stahler, Groups Architect, presented a Capital Master Plan. Mr. Cashman reviewed some of the following items:
● Capital Master Plan - Overall District Totals
● Capital Master Plan - J.T. Manning Elementary School
● Cost Estimate Student to Renovate J.T. Manning
● Cost Estimate Study to Replace J.T. Manning
Mr. Cashman answered questions regarding the costs of the different items. The Board would like the projects prioritized and layed out to be easy for everyone to understand.
Facility Planning Committee
Anthony Ruelli, Business Manager, talked about how a Facility Planning Committee needs to be formed to review the scope of these projects and next steps. The Board would like to make sure we publicize the meeting and make sure we include all stakeholders. They would like a well defined purpose for the meeting by the first February Board meeting.
Board Reporting from IASB Conference
In November the Board attended the Tri-Conference downtown. They shared out on the many different sessions they attended.
Copier Extension with Konica Minolta
Mr. Ruelli gave the Board a brief summary of the copier/printer contract. The contract will be up for approval later in the meeting.

Resolution to Adopt 2023 Tax Levy
Motion by Ms. Radogno, second by Mr. Hevia, to adopt the resolution setting the 2023 Tax Levy, as presented.

Nays: None.
Motion Carried.
Resolution Authorizing a Supplemental Tax Levy toPay the Principal of and Interest on Outstanding Limited Bonds of Community Unit School District 201, Dupage County, Illinois
Motion by Ms. Steketee, second by Mr. Marren, to approve the resolution authorizing a supplemental tax levy to pay the principal of and interest on outstanding limited bonds of Community Unit School District Number 201, Dupage County, Illinois as presented.
Ayes: Radogno, Steketee, Hoover, Rogers, Conover, Hevia, Marren
Nays: None.

Approval of Authorization for Treasurer to Pay Additional December 2023 Expenditures
Motion by Mr. Marren, second by Ms. Steketee, to authorize and direct the Treasurer to pay bills received in December 2023 for the 2024 fiscal year, as presented.
Ayes: Marren, Conover, Hoover, Rogers Steketee
Nays: None.

Approval of Copier Extension with Konica Minolta
Motion by Ms. Steketee, second by Mr. Marren, to approve the contract with Konica Minolta, as presented.

Resolution for Termination of Employee
The Board did not take action on this item.
SUPERINTENDENT'S REPORT
Communication
Superintendent Baldermann shared his appreciation for the Board and how serious and dedicated they are to their roles. The Board will be participating in an Equity Workshop on January 11th. Superintendent Baldermann would like to share how the District is having a very strong semester with the improvement in student behavior.

BOARD REPORTS
Mr. Hevia would like to give a shout out to everyone who coordinated the dance at Manning. He would also like to acknowledge the Jr. Sentinels Night.
Ms. Hoover would like to give a shout out to all those who participated in the talent show at the high school.
Ms. Steketee announced competitive cheer is back at the high school and junior high.
