Darren Bailey, a candidate for the 12th Congressional District, has publicly criticized his opponent, incumbent U.S. Rep. Mike Bost (R-Ill.), accusing him of being part of the political "swamp" and engaging in actions that are detrimental to the nation. In an appeal to supporters, Bailey urged them to contribute to his campaign to "drain the swamp" and prioritize putting "America First."

“The swamp is doing everything it can to lie and buy this election for its failed incumbent,” Bailey said on Facebook. “My opponent has voted to grant amnesty to 1.8 million illegal immigrants, sent over $500 million to Planned Parenthood, and teamed up with Never Trumper Adam Kinzinger to infringe on our Second Amendment rights.”

“Friends, we are leading this race, but we need your help to finish strong and win. Please consider donating now to help us drain the swamp and put America First.”

According to polling data provided by the campaign, Bailey is currently leading in the race with 48%, while Bost is polling at 44%. The data also shows that 8% of voters remain undecided. Bailey encouraged supporters to spread the word about his campaign and emphasized the importance of securing victory in the upcoming election.

Bailey's roots run deep in southern Illinois. A former state senator and the 2022 GOP gubernatorial candidate, he spent his formative years on the Bailey Family Farm. Today, he owns and operates this farm alongside his sons. Under their management, Bailey Family Grain, Bailey Family Freight, and BNB Excavating have flourished - a testament to their dedication towards establishing a lasting legacy and realizing their daily farming aspirations as stated on their website.

Illinois’ 12th Congressional District includes Monroe, Randolph, Clinton, Perry, Jackson, Union, Alexander, Pulaski, Massac, Johnson, Williamson, Jefferson, Marion, Clay, Effingham, Wayne, Hamilton, Saline, Pope, Hardin, Gallatin, White, Edwards, Wabash, Richland, Lawrence, Jasper, Crawford, Cumberland and Clark Counties. It also includes most of St. Clair County and half of Coles County. Bost has held this position since 2015, as per GovTrack.
