Community Unit School District #201 Board of Education met Jan. 23.

Here are the minutes provided by the board:

CALL TO ORDER 

On January 23, 2024, at 6:01 p.m. Vice President Conover called to order the regular meeting of the Community Unit School District 201 Board of Education.

Roll Call 

Members Present: Jessica Radogno, Angela Steketee, Kevin Marren, Leah Conover

Members absent: Adina Hoover, Whitney Rogers, Carlos Hevia

Also present: Superintendent Jack Baldermann, Business Manager,  Anthony Ruelli, the Superintendent’s Administrative Assistant,  Shannon Cossairt.

Pledge of Allegiance Leah Conover led the Assembly in the Pledge of Allegiance.

CLOSED SESSION 

Motion by Mr. Marren, second by Ms. Steketee, to enter closed session to discuss personnel issues, student discipline, and collective bargaining. 

Ayes: Radogno, Marren, Steketee, Conover 

Nays: None. 

Motion Carried. 

The Board entered closed session at 6:02 p.m. 

The Board returned to open session at 6:41 p.m.

PUBLIC COMMENT 

Public comment was given by Ryan Wild.

APPROVAL OF MINUTES

January 9, 2024 

Motion by Ms. Radogno, second by Mr. Marren, to approve the minutes of the January 9, 2024, regular meeting of the Board of Education, as presented. 

Ayes: Radogno, Marren, Steketee, Conover 

Nays: None. 

Motion Carried.

January 9, 2024-Closed 

Motion by Mr. Marren, second by Ms. Steketee, to approve the minutes of the closed session of the January 9, 2024 regular meeting of the Board of Education, as presented. 

Ayes: Radogno, Marren, Steketee, Conover

Nays: None 

Motion Carried.

January 11, 2024 

Motion by Ms. Radogno, second by Ms. Steketee, to approve the minutes of the January 11, 2024, special meeting of the Board of Education, as presented. 

Ayes: Radogno, Marren, Steketee, Conover 

Nays: None 

Motion Carried

CONSENT AGENDA 

Motion by Ms. Radogno, second by Mr, Marren, to approve the consent agenda as presented: 

1. Personnel Recommendations - Certified Staff 

2. Approval of the January 2024 Expenditure Report 

3. Ratification of the December 2023 Regular Payroll 

Ayes: Marren, Steketee, Conover, Radogno 

Nays: None. 

Motion carried.

INFORMATION and DISCUSSION

Review of E-Learning 

Dr, Nadine Norris, Director of Technology, Teaching, and Learning, gave the Board an update on the most recent e-learning day. Separate surveys were sent out to both families and staff regarding the e-learning day. Nadne shared the findings. The Board has requested they would like to see more articulate plans. Included with changes moving forward they would like to see who we are tracking accountability. They would also like to see posted an explicit list of expectations.

ACTION ITEM

Approval of Additional E-Learning Days 

Motion by Mr. Marren, second by Ms. Steketee, to approve up to 4 additional e-learning days in lieu of emergency days in the 2023-2024 school year. 

Ayes: Steketee, Conover, Radogno, Marren 

Nays: None

SUPERINTENDENT'S REPORT

Communication 

Superintendent Baldermann would like to thank grounds and custodians for all their hard work for clearing the snow and getting the schools open for the day when most schools were closed. He also shared that Kindergarten Open House is March 19th and Incoming 9th Grade Night is February 15th.

FOIA Request 

There are no FOIA requests at this time.

BOARD REPORTS 

The Board would like to congratulate the wrestlers. They also would like to encourage attendance at the Booster Fundraiser on 

February 2nd. Also, everyone is invited to attend Illinois Reads.

PUBLIC COMMENT 

There is no public comment.
