The Illinois State Police (ISP) recently celebrated the addition of nine new troopers from Cadet Class 146 to its ranks. The graduation ceremony for the new troopers took place at the Illinois State Police Academy in Springfield on April 12.
Cadet Class 146 completed a rigorous 28-week program that covered various essential aspects of law enforcement, such as cultural diversity, procedural justice, domestic violence, and firearms training. The new troopers also underwent a 14-week field training component with personalized mentoring.
According to the source, "Since 2019, the ISP has grown its numbers by adding 512 new troopers to its ranks." This continuous effort aims to enhance the ISP's capabilities and better serve the communities across the state.
The fresh recruits from Cadet Class 146 will be distributed among different Troops across Illinois as follows:
- Troop 3 Chicago: 7 troopers
- Troop 4 Peoria: 1 trooper
- Troop 7 Champaign: 1 trooper
In a bid to attract more individuals to join the force, the ISP has extended the application deadline for the next round of recruits to May 1, 2024.
