Jasper Community Consolidated School District #17 Board of Education met March 21.

Here is the agenda provided by the board:

The regular meeting of the Jasper School Board of Education was called to order by Board  President Derek Demaret and Beth Titzer taking the minutes, on March 21, at 6:00 p.m. with  following board members present: 

Board Members Present: Derek Demaret, Elizabeth Titzer, Justin Atwood, Jon Lafikes,  Caitlin Glisson, Josh Zurliene & Jarad Blanton 

Board Members Absent: 

The consent agenda, which includes minutes of previous regular board meeting, executive  session and destruction of closed session minutes, treasurer’s report, approval of monthly bills  and payroll, were then approved on a motion by Justin Atwood and seconded by Jon Lafikes. The  votes were as follows:

Jarad Blanton- yes 

A motion was made by Justin Atwood and seconded by Jon Lafikes to award the fuel and  propane bid to Wabash Valley FS Service Company for the FY25 at a firm price of gasoline at  3.459 per gallon, diesel at 3.975 per gallon and propane at 1.72 per gallon. The votes were as  follows:

A motion was made by Caitlin Glisson and seconded by Jon Lafikes to approve the 2024-2025  consolidated district plan application. The votes were as follows:

A motion was made by Beth Titzer and seconded by Caitlin Glisson to employ Katelyn Rodgers  as elementary teacher for the 2024-2025 school year pending background investigation and EHR results. The votes were as follows:

Justin Atwood – yes     Caitlin Glisson – yes

A motion was made by Beth Titzer and seconded by Justin Atwood to employ Brandon Weber as  2024 season Trach Coach at a stipend of $910.80. The votes were as follows:

A motion was made by Josh Zurliene and seconded by Jarad Blanton to employ Tommy  Newman as 2024-2025 Boys’ Head Basketball Coach. The votes were as follows:

A motion was made by Josh Zurliene and seconded by Justin Atwood to employ Jeff Gruner as  2024 summer custodian. The votes were as follows:

A motion was made by Josh Zurliene and seconded by Jon Lafikes to approve moving into  executive closed session at 6:45 pm in accordance with school board policy 2:220-E2 items #1,  the appointment, employment compensation, discipline, performance, or dismissal of specific  employees of the District, .5 ILCS 120/2C(1), as amended by P.A. 93-0057; 5 ILCS 120/2C (1),  as amended by P.A. 993-0057; #2 Collective negotiating matters between the District and it  employees or their representatives, or deliberations concerning salary schedules for one or more  classes of employees .5 ILCS 12-/2C (2); #9 Student disciplinary cases .5 ILCS 120/2(C) (9). The votes were as follows:

A motion was made by Jarad Blanton and seconded by Caitlin Glisson to approve moving out of  executive session at 7:41p.m. in accordance with school board policy. The votes were as follows:

A motion was made by Justin Atwood and seconded by Jon Lafikes to approve adjourning the  meeting at 7:48 p.m. the votes were as follows:
